... that the Russian Nationals continued with two jump-off rounds and 16-way?

Bronze after two extra rounds and tie-breaker: XO Team
posted Sep 30th, 2016 - The 4-way and 8-way leaderboards at the Russian Nationals 2016 have been complete for two days, at least for most of the teams.

XO Team and DOSAAF RO had to go into over-time after being tied in 3rd place at the end of the 10-round meet. The start of the 16-way competition was scheduled for Thursday morning, while 4-way was completed on Wednesday. However, the two teams in 3rd place had to get up a little bit earlier on Thursday to perform their jump-off round before the 16-way teams would get in the air.

The first jump-off round did not break the tie after two 13-pointers, and the meet director sent the teams back in the air for another extra round. Two 19-pointers in Round 12 followed, and the judges finally decided to break the tie with an older rule, where the highest score for a round would determine the winner. It was eventually the XO team winning the bronze medals with the 20-pointer in Round 9.

Black Cat's 16-way lineup Sibsky
The Sun Path Products NSL News had the opportunity to eye-witness the part of the first round in 16-way that did not include the freefall. It was Black Cat's 16-way team preparing for Round 1 and riding the Let 410 to altitude that the NSL-TV camera recorded live.

However, the videos of the three competition jumps for Round 1 can also be reviewed.

The Let 410 is the same jump plane that teams were using for their exits at the world meet in Prostejov 2014. The Russian national teams at the FAI Mondial 2016 had to switch to the Twin Otter after training mostly from the Let 410 in their homeland, as DZ Grozniy's team captain Evgenia Korjova explained during yesterday's live NSL Talk.

Black Cat had a good battle with Andrey Barabash's home team, and Tanay's team won the first round and the 16-way competition. Tanay 8-way team mate Alexander Tychinskiy was captaining the 16-way team with all four Black Cat members and the Tanay Wolves.

The remaining seven slots were filled by Black Cat friends from nearby Novosibirsk and other local skydivers, including Tanay DZ manager Alexander Davidoff.

Host Andrey Barabash had invited his other 8-way team mates Vladimir Arutunov, Dmitry Samokhval and Sergey Yalpaev for the five rounds in 16-way and added other locals. His 16-way lineup also included former Barkli member Vladimir Pavlenko and Alena Chistova, who has moved back to Russia after her previous work place in Dubai.

The Russian Nationals continue with 6-way and 2-way competition, while 4-way VFS and artistic events have already been completed, as well.
