Did You Know...

... that the Bodyflight Revenge 2016 was a warm-up opportunity for the FAI Indoor World Cup?

AAA Class awards at the Bodyflight Revenge 2016
posted Nov 16th, 2016 - Two of the five British 4-way teams who competed at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016 used the great opportunity to warm up for the event at this year's Bodyflight Revenge 2016.

Bodyflight Bedford's 16-foot flying chamber makes it easier for 4-way teams to perform the AAA Class sequences, compared to the 14-foot chamber that Flyspot in Poland hosted the FAI event in. In fact, the FAI dive pool for the Indoor World Cup is smaller, as Block 1 and Block 13 require too much space in a 14-foot chamber.

ACM and NFTO had both blocks in the Revenge competition draw, which was block-heavy with 21 of the 22 blocks. The FAI draw at Flyspot included all 20 blocks that are in the 14-foot dive pool.

ACM must have liked the competition draw at the Bodyflight Revenge better than the one at Flyspot, as they outscored the British national team in 4-way Women one week before the trip to Poland, where NFTO won the FAI bronze medals in 4-way Women.

The different outcome could also be related to the lineups. Both teams had changes after the Bodyflight Revenge.

ACM's Marc Fletcher, Hari Ganapathy and Gareth Hicks had 4mula's Kate Lindsley in the lineup on October 1st in Bedford. Steve Hamilton then made the ACM trip to the FAI Indoor World Cup to fill the slot for Kate Lindsley who would compete with Volition, the silver medalist in 4-way Women.

NFTO on the other hand had Liz Matthews in the lineup at the Revenge, where Maria Russell was not available. She was back in the lineup at Flyspot where NFTO finished with a new indoor team record average and the FAI bronze medals.

Liz Matthews then re-joined Volition with Kate Lindsley in Poland, where both ACM and NFTO substitutes at the Revenge finished ahead of all other British teams with Volition and won the FAI silver medals in 4-way Women. In fact, both British all-female teams outscored the three other UK teams.

Volition improved the 10-round average of 23.2 at the World Challenge 2016 to 24.2 at the FAI Indoor World Cup and still ended up 37 points the French Girls Weembi. All three teams will probably meet again at the World Challenge 2017 on the first April weekend next year...
