Did You Know...

... that the Eclipse fairytale comes to an end at the team's peak performance level?

Eclipse at the Bodyflight Revenge 2016
posted Nov 18th, 2016 - The recent Sun Path Products NSL News update after the Bodyflight Revenge 2016 focused mostly on the two British teams who also competed a week later at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016, NFTO and ACM.

The team in 3rd place, Eclipse, has been in the shadows of the best British 4-way teams throughout the 7-year team history, even though the Sun Path Products NSL News has paid attention to Eclipse several times over the years.

Eclipse has probably the most impressive performance progression of all British 4-way teams after launching the team project in 2010 with the same lineup that finished in 3rd place at the Bodyflight Revenge 2016 on October 1st.

The progression curves of indoor and outdoor competition results are almost identical, and the consistency of both performances has brought the team finally to the medal position at Bodyflight Bedford with a 21.6 average, which is a new team record.

Impressive 2010 - 2016 scoring progression
The Sun Path Products NSL News story on July 21st featured Eclipse as a potential underdog for medals at the UK Nationals 2016.

Eclipse followed up with a new outdoor team record average (17.1) and a tied highscore with Satori XL in Round 5.

Eclipse finished tied with NFTO in 5th place, only seven points behind bronze medalist Vision 99, after seriously challenging the British national team in 4-way Open of 2014.

This year's new indoor and outdoor team record averages and the ranking positions on the UK leaderboards confirmed once again the ongoing strong Eclipse charge towards the British top spots.

However, the team fairytale now comes to an end after the peak performances this year.

Eclipse at the FAI World Cup 2015
Eclipse announced after the Bodyflight Revenge 2016 that the team will not continue:

"We are sad to announce that, after seven years as a team, Eclipse will not be continuing. We have had some amazing experiences along the way, and we now have the opportunity to reflect on the fantastic memories we have of an epic journey."

The end of the Eclipse journey is not necessarily the end of each member's competition career. The announcement included the note that some team members "may go on to compete in new teams", while others may "start new adventures outside of 4-way".

However, there is a happy ending, not only with the team record averages this year. Jenny Buckle, Martin Cressey, Jonny Flowers, Ben Lawford and team videographer Simon Chittick remain close friends, and they "will look back with extremely fond memories"...
