Did You Know...

... that DeLand Kickers and Rogue 4 had a 10-round rollercoaster meet at iFLY Orlando?

Indoor and outdoor: SDC ZEUS
posted Dec 19th, 2016 - The NSL Championship weekend began on Friday at noon with the competition draw for the outdoor event at Skydive DeLand. Two teams (Simba, Bamaboys) then completed a few rounds on Friday afternoon to have an easier schedule on Saturday.

The next part was the Random Ramble at iFLY Orlando, which turned out as a 10-round indoor competition in the late evening, with sequences that included only random formations. Two of the teams who completed the ten rounds in iFLY Orlando's 12-foot flying chamber (SDC ZEUS, Schindler's List) on Friday night were back at Skydive DeLand on Saturday morning, where they had unlimited space available for the additional six outdoor rounds.

It was the first indoor competition for SDC ZEUS, and it was difficult for the Z-Hills team to keep up with the indoor experts in the other two AA Class lineups.

Together at iFLY Seattle...
The AA Class battle between Rogue 4 and DeLand Kickers was even more interesting and exciting than the 3-point difference after Round 10 indicates, as both teams had a common history.

Two Rogue 4 members (Jimmy Xu, Yvonne Saa) had recently competed at the IBA Indoor Skydiving Competition and won at iFLY Seattle with a 21.3 average in the A Class.

They had Sebastian Jimenez and Leslie Eggenberger in their lineup at iFLY Seattle, who have both been training and competing with the DeLand Kickers. Sebastian Jimenez and Leslie Eggenberger had their own lineup of DeLand Kickers for the NSL Indoor Championship (Cathy Luo, Brad Weinberg), while Jimmy Xu and Yvonne Saa recruited Andrea Greening and Karl Meyer for Rogue 4.

...and separated at iFLY Orlando
Rogue 4 was a real pickup team for the meet only, even though Andrea Greening and Jimmy Xu have currently been considering team plans for the 2017 season. It was to be expected that Rogue 4 would pick up the pace round by round after getting more used to each other.

The DeLand Kickers knew each other better after training and competing together at several Indoor Cloud League events and some meets of the Florida Skydiving League. However, last Friday's lineup was still a new one of the various DeLand Kickers options.

Sebastian Jimenez and Leslie Eggenberger had the better start with their team and were 11 points ahead after Round 3, which was the end of the first flying session. The other seven rounds followed after a 30-minute intermission, and Rogue 4 turned the table by winning four of the last five rounds. The DeLand Kickers still had a 3-point lead before Round 10, which turned into a 3-point deficit in the very last round...
