Did You Know...

... that iFLY Seattle's flying chamber is a Magic Pixie Dust Tube?

AA and A: Djordje Mandaric, Dale Findlay, Jeramy Eggum, Jerome Jeal
posted Jan 1st, 2017 - Jan Klapka's Indoor Cloud League team at the Hurricane Factory has been in the top spot of the 14+ leaderboard six times of the 12 monthly events this year.

Deb Correia's iFLY Seattle team had outscored the Czech teams two times in 2016 (July, September) and added a third top total in December. The Northwest Skydiving League group can still not catch up with the Czech leader for the winning total of the 2016 season. However, iFLY Dallas was only nine points behind at the end of November, and the scores from Texas have not been posted yet. iFLY Seattle's total of 115 points is the third highest of the year, and it might be needed to defend the 2nd place successfully.

Deb Correia reported from iFLY Seattle that her team had two more new participants this month, Ivan Baranov and Angie Clifford. They were together in a Rookie Class lineup with coaches Dave Correia and Steve Platt.

Deb Correia introduced the new Indoor Cloud League competitors:

"Angie had been participating with the ICL team of the Northern California Skydiving League but has now moved to Seattle. We're so happy to have her join us. Ivan participated in the IBA competition in Seattle in December on the team lead by Bill Selig that also included Olga Nikolova and Lenora Fenstermaker. Unfortunately, he is moving from Seattle, so he won't likely be joining us again."

Deb Correia pointed out that each team was able to turn in a highscore this month. She also had three different lineups for the AAA Class sequence this time, which is unusual for her Indoor Cloud League team: "Typically the coaches fly the AA and AAA sequences after the main session, but the team led by Djordje Mandaric, with Jeramy Eggum, Jerome Jeal and Dale Findlay, did so well on the AA sequence that we decided to focus solely on AAA, especially since we all had so little experience with Block 10. With six coaches, we composed three different teams, with each person getting to fly four times."

Next 4-way generation: Scotty Correia
Deb Correia's iFLY Seattle team had a strong finish for the year, with its 3rd highest score, after meeting only once every month. She said that a second monthly Indoor Cloud League event might be added in 2017, at least for the winter months. She is hoping to recruit more Rookie Class competitors, as the skill level of the groups continues to improve.

Last and not least, Deb Correia is also preparing a very new generation of flyers for 4-way competition, just as especially the Czech group has been doing it for a while. Deb and Dave Correia's grandson Scotty Correia made his first flight on his 3rd birthday.

He did not like the goggles and the wind in his face, so the grandparents are now in the process of modifying one of Deb Correia's old full-face helmets. She said that he loves Peter Pan and that he has been talking about flying for a while: "We told him the tunnel was a 'Magic Pixie Dust Tube', and that he can only fly there. We didn't want him to try jumping off the steps after his flight..."
