Did You Know...

... that a new U.S. team is aiming at the 4-way Women spot in Australia 2018?

New ICL location: iFLY Tampa
posted Feb 2nd, 2017 - The leaderboards of the starting month of the Indoor Cloud League 2017 season are almost complete, and some of the 14+ scores are coming from new locations (iFLY Tampa) and ICL teams that have not posted any numbers for a while (SkyVenture Montreal). Even more scores will be added in the coming days, also from another new ICL team from Paraclete XP.

The current highscores for the 14+ sequences are spread all over the leaderboard, and each of the five ICL teams has at least tied one of them.

iFLY Dallas shares the 29-pointer highscore for the RR Class sequence with iFLY Seattle. Player coaches Amanda Lampton and Lucas King had 4-way rookies Christine Brownmiller and Melody Storm in their lineup and also posted an impressive 28-pointer for the R Class sequence.

No new plans: Dallas 350 in 2016

iFLY Dallas was in a close competition with iFLY Seattle for the 2nd place behind the Hurricane Factory on the 14+ leaderboard for the 2016 season and eventually ended up 14 points behind (1286 - 1272) in 3rd place. It was probably the missing R Class score in November 2016 that made the difference last year.

Amanda Lampton had bad luck once again in January. The GoPro camera ran out of battery power when her AAA Class lineup performed in the flying chamber. The installed overhead camera was not working, and the GoPro substitute camera was done filming before the flying session was complete.

The former Dallas 350 member had other news for the Sun Path Products NSL News, as well. She has joined a new all-female team when Dallas 350 did not make any new plans for the 2017 season.

Amanda Lampton with the U.S. 4-way Women team in Dubai 2014
The new team's goal is the qualification for the next FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving in Australia 2018. The Golden Knights 4-way world champions in 4-way Women have no plans for a comeback, and the door is open for other teams in this category.

Amanda Lampton has already competed once for the U.S. delegation at the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championship 2014, where her team (Amanda Lampton, Kristina Peterson, Christina West, Rhonda Wilcox, with Chad Wilcox on camera) finished in 2nd place.

The lineup for the new team includes Lauren Byrd, Morgan Womble and Christine Bruchac. SDC Rhythm XP member JaNette Lefkowitz is the primary coach, and the team will be based at Paraclete XP in Raeford, for indoor and outdoor training.

Amanda Lampton said that this team has less 4-way experience compared to the Dubai lineup; however, there is "a lot of raw talent". The new team knows that it will be impossible to defend the U.S. gold medals successfully in this event, while the goal is still to be in medal contention.

The team might even look at a longer time period if the next two years go well and then aim at the top spot in 4-way Women in 2020. This year, 300 jumps and 20 - 25 hours of tunnel training are on the team agenda. The training efforts will be increased in the world meet year.

So far, the new team has the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship on the meet schedule and may try to qualify for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 at SkyVenture Montreal. A few outdoor meets before the USPA Nationals 2017 are on the priority list, as well.
