Did You Know...

... that the power rankings for the World Challenge have changed after Weembi?

Back in 3rd of power rankings: French Weembi Girls
posted Mar 28th, 2017 - The results of the French Indoor Nationals 2017 had an impact on the power rankings for the upcoming World Challenge 2017 too.

The French Weembi Girls have taken back the top position in the duel with the French national team in 4-way Open, RealFly-Sion, after a convincing performance at the French Indoor Nationals 2017. In fact, the French Weembi Girls were the only team who scored higher last weekend at Weembi than at the Wind Games at the beginning of February.

The competition draw in Lille was obviously slower compared to the Wind Games, and the French Weembi Girls are back in 3rd place of the power rankings for the World Challenge.

The French B-Team Espoir Saumur Weembi claimed a Top 10 spot for the World Challenge after a 24.7 average at Weembi. Five of the Top 10 teams are from France. Last and not least, ISR FireFlash moved right up to the NFTO level with the 21.6 average at the team's first competition.

Aerokart Akdemie delegation at Weembi
14 teams are currently registered for the AA Class at the World Challenge, and none of the 18 French AA Class teams at Weembi has signed up for Bedford.

The AA Class is the category for the 4-way Junior teams, where the three French Aerokart Akdemie teams are at home. The French 4-way juniors dominated the AA Class competition at Weembi and won gold and silver for their project.

There would be direct 4-way Junior competition for the Aerokart Akdemie, as three Czech 4-way Junior teams have signed up for the World Challenge. HF Junior Cubs and HF Junior Flies compete in the AA Class, and one of them will represent the Czech Republic at the FAI Indoor World Meet at SkyVenture Montreal later this year.

Aerokart Akdemie 2 (Cameron Malie, Eliot Massier, Oscar Massier, Tom Mattoni) will compete for France in Canada, after outscoring Akdemie 1 by two points (22.5 - 22.3) at Weembi. The Cubs and the Flies will probably be in AA Class medal contention in Bedford.

AA Class awards at the French Nationals 2017
The Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 21 March 2017 that the A Class competition seems to be wide open at the World Challenge.

Three more teams have now been added to the A Class leaderboard, and there is still only one British team registered. 16 teams had competed in the A Class at the UK Nationals 2016. It seems like outdoor competition is more attractive for British teams in this category.

Poor Forecast competed in the Rookie Class last year and will represent the United Kingdom against five other teams from four different countries.

Poland's Olczyk Flyspot Team has also moved up from Rookie to A Class and is the top favorite in this category after a recent 27.2 average in a 6-round meet at Flyspot.

Rookie Class awards at the World Challenge 2016
Another team from Poland is on the top of the power rankings in the Rookie Class.

The Omega 4Way team posted a 17.8 average in a 6-round meet last year and comes back in the same category. The recent 25.0 average over six rounds at Flyspot has moved up the Polish team to the top of the power rankings.

The Belgian Aeropotam's will try to keep up with the Polish team, while a second Belgian team was not far behind at the ISR Grand Prix 2016. The eleven Rookie Class teams at the World Challenge are from eight different nations.

Heavenly Creepers from Ireland won the 4-team Rookie Class competition in Bedford last year with a 10.4 average. This year's winning average will be significantly higher.
