Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV features the historic 4-way battle at the World Challenge 2017?

French 4-way Open Class team of 2012
posted Apr 9th, 2017 - The World Challenge 2017 is over, and the Sun Path Products NSL News feature the historic 20 rounds of 4-way competition between NMP PCH HayaBusa and Weembi Lille that produced the highest total number of points that two teams have ever posted.

HayaBusa's 33.1 average in Bedford this weekend did not break the team's previous 33.1 posted at the Aerokart Indoor Championship of 2012.

However, Weembi's 330 points were two more of what the French national team of 2012 had posted in February in Paris.

It was almost exactly the same group of 4-way competitors who finished with a total of 661 points yesterday. Roy Janssen won with HayaBusa by three points in 2012, and he finished in 2nd place with Weembi Lille, one single point behind the Belgians with Jeroen "Bob" Nollet in his former tail slot.

Julien Degen, Mathieu and Guillaume Bernier had Emmanuel "Manu" Sarrazin in their lineup in 2012. He was not in Bedford this weekend, and Jeroen Nollet was the only team member of both lineups who missed the Aerokart meet five years ago.

Serious challenge: NMP PCH HayaBusa at the World Challenge 2017
The battle for the top spot at the World Challenge 2017 could not have been much more exciting. Only a fly-off round would have added even more drama, and the situation before and after Round 10 was not far away from the extra round.

HayaBusa had to win the last round by one point to force Weembi into a fly-off, and any larger difference would win the meet.

The Belgians told the Sun Path Products NSL News that they gave it everything they had trying to make it happen. However, the Weembi members went into the last round with the same plan and with the same energy. They knew that HayaBusa had nothing to lose any longer as the team in 2nd place after Round 9, and Weembi could not afford a complacent approach.

The sequence of Round 10 may have favored the better trained team, as it was the only 3-block round in the competition draw. HayaBusa ended up two points ahead of Weembi and won the most important round of the meet by the needed two points.

6-month break after the World Challenge 2017
The finish at the World Challenge 2017 turned out to be the closest one of the four battles between both teams with the same lineups.

The Clash of Champions was the start where HayaBusa won clearly by 18 points over a hardly trained pickup team.

Weembi moved significantly closer after more indoor training and reduced the difference to four points at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016. Five points were between both teams at the Wind Games 2017, and HayaBusa won by 13 points on Weembi home turf at the French Indoor Nationals 2017.

Bedford was neutral ground for both teams, and Weembi Lille did not have to deal with logistical work and other distractions. Result was the most exciting duel between the two highest scoring 4-way teams in the history of the sport.

NMP PCH HayaBusa and Weembi Lille will now have a 6-month break before they will face off again at the FAI Indoor World Meet at SkyVenture Montreal for the next battle as the national indoor teams for Belgium and France.
