Did You Know...

... that iFLY Seattle's Indoor Cloud League team needs new 4-way rookies?

iFLY Seattle team in April
posted May 4th, 2017 - The 14+ leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League offers a new situation on the top, as the April competition is complete and submissions of the latest scores and videos slowly fade out.

The Hurricane Factory is currently in 3rd place on the April leaderboard, which is a very unusual experience. Two U.S. ICL teams are ahead of the Czech teams, and they are separated by one single point.

The Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 26 April 2017 how Paraclete XP finished six points ahead of the Hurricane Factory and took the April lead. However, the month was not over, and iFLY Seattle submitted scores and videos a few days after the Paraclete team posted their total of 119 points.

Paraclete maintained the top spot by one single point this time, after fending off iFLY Seattle by three points in March. The Hurricane Factory had won last month's ICL competition by four points. It seems like the top of the 14+ leaderboard tightens up.

Deb Correia's group of Northwest Skydiving League teams and competitors held once again two events at iFLY Seattle in April, a training camp to prepare for the blocks in the April sequences and the ICL competition.

There was a smaller turnout for the training camp this time, and two teams used the opportunity to work on the specific blocks. Deb Correia reported that Olga Nikolova and Sarah Mireles Jacobs worked on Block 8 and Block 19 with herself and Bill Selig. Babs Selig and Nat Mote took on Block 8 and Block 18 with coaches Dave Correia and Dmitry Rudchenko.

Both teams shared 15 minutes of flying time, with quick debriefings before flying the sequences again.

Four teams then came back to iFLY Seattle later last month to perform the ICL sequences, and a couple of other teams also turned in their own scores and videos outside of the official event.

Progressive 4-way rookies: Lynda Sharpe, Olga Nikolova
Seattle Swift, last year's AA/Intermediate Class winner at the USPA Nationals, took care of the top scores for the AA and AAA sequences. Three members of Otter Droppings (Jerome Jeal, Jeramy Eggum, Dale Findlay), along with coach Djordje Mandaric, turned in the highscore for the A Class sequence.

Deb Correia said that her ICL team is facing a similar challenge as the Czech teams, since her 4-way rookies are moving up quickly. The iFLY Seattle team is in need of some new rookies, as Olga Nikolova and Lynda Sharpe have been working hard to move up, including doing some 2-on-2 coaching with Deb and Dave Correia outside of the ICL.

Olga Nikolova and Lynda Sharpe turned in the top scores for the R and RR sequences and also had the top score in the RRR Class. However, the ICL rules only allow for a team to turn in scores in two neighboring categories. Deb Correia said that technically they have not reached the requirement to move up, while they are ready for the next step.

Sarah Mireles Jacobs, Randy Barbee and Nat Mote had flown together several times at previous ICL events. Randy Barbee was returning from a shoulder injury and took a new slot to avoid the excess tension in Block 8. His team eventually turned in the score for the RRR sequence.
