Did You Know...

... that the Tomscat Trophy 2017 will have record participation?

Out of the Blue in training action
posted Jun 21st, 2017 - It seems like the Dutch 20+ Formation Skydiving 4-way project has not only generated a few new teams, with the signature team Orange on the top of the different performance levels. The whole 4-way community in the Netherlands has apparently been re-activated with this boost.

The participation at the upcoming Tomscat Trophy 2017 is back to its highest levels. In fact, 23 teams have registered for this year's event, which matches the record numbers of 2008 and 2009 in the archives of the Sun Path Products NSL News.

The Tomscat Trophy 2016 was the lowest point in participation with a total of only ten teams in all four categories. It was also the first time that Thunder ISR did not attend, and the first time that Paul Hofstee missed any of the Tomscat Trophy meets in the event's history. Paul Hofstee will be back this year with his new Team Orange lineup, together with his Thunder team mate Jacco van Eerden.

The Tomscat Trophy 2017 is not only featuring the first meet appearances of the two competitive 20+ project teams, Team Orange and Out of the Blue. There will be great competition in all categories, and three new teams join the 4-way momentum in the Rookie Class.

23 teams at the Tomscat Trophy 2008 and 2009
Cool Runnings, the Dutch national 4-way team of 2014, was the only AAA Class team last year and is now in a mix of five teams in the same category. Gravity Abuse is making the big step from the AA Class to the complete FAI/IPC dive pool with slot switchers and longer sequences.

Gravity Abuse was formed in 2011 and competed for two years in the Rookie Class, followed by one year in the A Class. The Tomscat Trophy 2014 was the first meet of the three years in the AA Class. Gravity Abuse won the AA competition at the Belgian Nationals last year and finished off with this category at the ISR Grand Prix 2016.

Paradocks, Lightning and 4midable are copying the same move from the A Class to the AA Class. All three teams competed in the A Class last year, and Paradocks won the Tomscat Trophy 2016. Now they move up together into the AA Class at the Tomscat Trophy 2017.

The AA Class competition might become the most interesting one, as Dimension and Bad Habits are waiting for the new AA Class teams in their second year in this category.

Ready for the AAA Class: Gravity Abuse
Manana, Heartbeat, Try-Out and Maverick are all coming back in the same category, the A Class, and will probably have a good battle for the top spots. Hoofeloos seems to have a reunion after competing in the A Class at the Tomscat Trophy 2008.

V-Power is the only Dutch team that moves up from the Rookie Class to take on the first set of eight blocks in the A Class, while Rojamarie does not have a team history at all. Three teams are joining the Dutch 4-way community in the Rookie Class.

The 2-day competition is scheduled for the first July weekend and takes place as usual at Skydive Hoogeveen.

It will be an international meet weekend, as teams in Germany compete at the Nordcup on the same weekend, and the Southern California Skydiving League holds the second meet of the year, as well.
