Did You Know...

... that Chimera has two substitutes for the 2017 season?

Hyrrokkin at the World Challenge 2012
posted Jun 28th, 2017 - The Sun Path Products NSL News continues with updates from the United Kingdom, as the current personnel changes will probably shake up the results and rankings at this year's national 4-way events.

Changes in the lineups of British AAA Class teams did not only happen to NFTO and 4mula. The next unfortunate news came from Chimera who had to react to an injury that took out team member Chris Judd for the entire 2017 season.

Sarah Ashworth, Laura Hampton, Chris Judd and James Woods launched their new team project at the beginning of the 2016 season and moved forward with a very impressive scoring progression at all indoor (20.2 - 20.8 - 22.5 - 24.1) and outdoor (14.7 - 16.1) meets ever since.

Chris Judd and James Woods knew each other well after a year together with Hyrrokkin in 2013, when Chris Judd had replaced Laura Muller. Will Cooke was an original Hyrrokkin member.

Laura Hampton connected with both in 2014 for a competition season with Lowabusa.

Lowabusa at the World Challenge 2014
Laura Hampton, Chris Judd and James Woods were finally together with Lowabusa in 2014, and 2015 still became a slow training and competition season for three three Lowabusa team mates.

Will Cooke continued with Tetris in 2014 and 2015 before he was recently recruited by 4mula.

Laura Hampton, Chris Judd and James Woods came back into full action with Chimera at the beginning of the 2016 season. Sarah Ashworth became the 4th team member, and James Woods' sister Katie, 4-way bronze medalist with Evolution at the FAI World Meet 2014 in Prostejov, was helping the team with coaching. The results and progression were impressive.

Fourth Chimera member Sarah Ashworth had joined Chimera after learning 4-way competition by going through all four categories (RRR - A - AA - AAA) in her three years with the ChatterChicks. Chimera eventually finished the first and very successful 2016 season with an 11th place at the FAI Indoor World Cup in Poland.

Chimera with coach Katie Woods at the World Challenge 2017
The 2017 season had the most promising start for Chimera with the same lineup as in 2016. It started with a 22.5 average at the Wind Games, followed by the 24.1 average at the World Challenge 2017. Then the accident happened, and Chris Judd was out for the rest of the year with a broken leg.

However, at least Chimera did not have to withdraw from the FAI World Cup 2017. Sarah Ashworth, Laura Hampton and James Woods were looking for substitutes and were successful.

Former Eclipse member Jonny Flowers was ready for a new team opportunity and will help out this year. James Woods said that Jonny Flowers will join a "mini training camp" to get the new lineup used to flying together. However, he will not be available for the FAI World Cup, and Chimera had to find an additional substitute, which turned out be very successful, too. Former Satori member Aaron Faith will substitute for the substitute in Saarlouis.

James Woods and his flexible Chimera lineup are grateful for the temporary solutions: "Obviously we're gutted Chris couldn't do it, and we've already done the bulk of our training, but luckily we have two awesome flyers to help us out!"
