posted Jul 5th, 2017 - Last weekend's AAA Class leaderboard brought teams from four different countries at three different events together. The second event of the Coupe de France was held in Bouloc, while the skydiving center in Hoogeveen hosted the Tomscat Trophy 2017. Three AAA Class teams competed in the Czech Republic.

The Czech AAA Class teams could not keep up with the best teams in France and the Netherlands; however, they had their own competitions with other international teams on last weekend's leaderboard.

HF Flying Circus finished with another new outdoor team record average after the first 10+ meet in May. This time, it was the 11+ benchmark that was left behind.

The weather situation in Prostejov, host of the FAI World Meet 2014, made it difficult for the teams to complete the meet, and they did not get any farther than to Round 5. It became complicated when video issues coincided with the weather situation, and the teams finished with different numbers of completed rounds on the leaderboard.

Jan Klapka said that the cloudy conditions caused situations where the videos could not be judged properly. HF Flying Circus and Skycentrum missed scores for different rounds, and only the scores from Rounds 1, 3 and 5 will be used for the standings of the Czech Cup 2017.

The adjusted overall leaderboard is still showing all scores that the Czech teams posted last weekend, despite the missing rounds.

HF Flying Circus was able to hold off the former Dutch national 4-way team of 2014, Cool Runnings, with the 11.5 average after the four judgeable rounds. Cool Runnings completed eight rounds in Hoogeveen for an 11.1 average.

Cool Runnings had competed for the Netherlands in 2014 at the same place where HF Flying Circus attended the Czech Cup event last weekend, the skydiving center in Prostejov. It was exactly the same lineup (René Hoogland, Tom van de Valk, Joost van Heijenoort, Sjoerd van Son, Jeroen van Dijk on camera) that competed in Prostejov 2014 and at the Tomscat Trophy 2017.

Cool Runnings was done after eight rounds at the FAI World Meet 2014, which was the last FAI event where the cuts after Round 8 (semifinals) and Round 9 (finals) were applied. All teams completed ten rounds at the next world meet in 2016.

HF Flying Circus could be the next team from the Czech Republic at a World Championship of Formation Skydiving. Jan Klapka's Bad Boys, the reigning national 4-way champions, did not compete at Skydive Chicago last year, and they have not attended any indoor or outdoor meets since April.

Jan Klapka said earlier that the Bad Boys will be back in July. They won the national 4-way title last year with a 13.5 average, and HF Flying Circus could move into striking distance in a perfect world.

Either way, one of the Klapka family would win the Czech gold medals this year, either father Jan with the Bad Boys, or son Jakub Klapka with HF Flying Circus - or even the CZ Ladies with mother Jirina Klapkova...
