Did You Know...

... that the British 4-way updates do not end with 4mula and Chimera?

Team 4mula with Sam Bemment (left)
posted Jul 11th, 2017 - It took a little while until the Sun Path Products NSL News had figured out the correct history of the British 4-way team Chimera.

The updates from the United Kingdom began with the story on June 27, after team 4mula had to withdraw from the planned attendance at the FAI World Cup 2017.

The story a day later followed up with Chimera's personnel changes.

The Chimera facts were finally sorted out with the kind help of several British 4-way competitors, while the story continues.

There was a connection between the two updates that came when the topic was discussed between 4-way experts in the United Kingdom.

The topic has a name, and it is 4mula's new team videographer Sam Bemment who is connecting the team dots, not only between Chimera and 4mula. Sam Bemment has his own 4-way history, which includes a few other teams, as well.

Lowabusa at the UK Nationals 2014

There are not too many 4-way competitors who are switching back and forth between filming and performing in front of the camera. Sam Bemment is one of them.

He was an original member of Hyrrokkin on camera and then trained and competed with Lowabusa in the inside center slot.

He went back to camera work for Tetris and then joined scratch team Colostomy, together with a couple of new 4-way competitors with only 200 - 300 jumps.

Colostomy won the UK Nationals 2016 in the A Class over 15 other teams in this category with a 10.6 average. Sam Bemment was still in the driver's seat for Colostomy.

The latest team opportunity came up when 4mula's regular videographer Nick Robinson broke his leg on a tandem jump last month. Sam Bemment had actually planned to take a year off after starting a new business. However, the opportunity was too tempting, and he could not refuse.

Awkward Turtles 8-way team in action
There is even more to the Sam Bemment story, as the mentioned teams and their members have also been connecting with the Awkward Turtles 8-way team.

His 2017 videographer colleague Matt Willson (Chimera) flies the tail slot in 8-way, and his Chimera team mates Laura Hampton, Sarah Ashworth and James Woods share the 8-way fun with him.

The Awkward Turtles also have a few members of the all-female PTW lineup in the 8-way mix: Lizzy Carroll and Georgie Marsh.

Martine Howland is the 8-way alternate, and Pete Harries is filming the Awkward Turtles. He was 4-way a team member of Enigma and Colostomy.

Sam Bemment was also an Enigma member where he trained and competed with new 4mula member Will Cooke and original Eclipse member Jonny Flowers who is now helping Chimera through the outdoor season.

Chimera member Laura Hampton and injured Chris Judd were also on Enigma lineups.

Finally, the Lowabusa roster at the UK Nationals 2014 brought Chris Judd and Laura Hampton together with James Woods and his famous sister Katie Woods, FAI bronze medalist with Evolution in Prostejov 2014, who has now been coaching Chimera for a while. Sam Bemment was on camera for Lowabusa.
