Did You Know...

... that the A Class competition featured the closest race for the top spot at the Tomscat Trophy?

Rookie Class of 2014: A Class winner Try-Out
posted Jul 28th, 2017 - The most exciting and closest competition of the Tomscat Trophy 2017 was actually going on in the A Class, at least for the top spot.

Three AA Class teams were battling for the 3rd place and ended up tied for the bronze medals, which was the closest finish for medal positions on the whole Tomscat leaderboard. However, the 1-point battle between Try-Out and the Heartbeat Skydive Team in the A Class was the most exciting race for gold medals.

V-Power in 3rd place was a part of this battle until Round 5 when last year's Rookie Class team was still in 2nd place. The 2-pointer in Round 6 took V-Power out of contention for gold medals, and the last two rounds became a 2-team showdown between Try-Out and Heartbeat.

The Heartbeat Skydive Team had already spent one year in the A Class, after the Sun Path Products NSL News introduced the Rookie Class team in its first year on 12 July 2015, with a follow-up on 13 October before the ISR Grand Prix 2015. It is still the same original lineup (Onno Kammeraad, Arjan Ouwerkerk, Klaas van der Veeken, Rick van Hoof, Rigo Rodriguez on camera) that is now in its third year.

A Class winner Try-Out was the most experienced team in this category. Try-Out spent one year in the Rookie Class of 2014 before Thomas de Raat, Michael Estl, Yolanda Koese, Ramses Rodenburg and videographer Eelco van Hoeven took on the eight A Class blocks in 2015.

Remco van Amersfoort replaced Ramses Rodenburg for the A Class season of 2016, and the new lineup increased the indoor and outdoor scoring and performance levels.

The 2016 lineup came back unchanged this year and posted a new team record average, which was rewarded with the gold medals at the Tomscat Trophy.

Manana, Maverick and Hoofeloos behind the medal winners all tied highscores for a round, as well, which is showing how close the potential of the Dutch A Class teams was to get to medal positions.

AAA Class team Out of the Blue will be in action next of all the Dutch 4-way teams at the Tomscat Trophy. They will represent the Netherlands at the upcoming FAI World Cup 2017.
