Did You Know...

... that the Indoor Cloud League had a strong comeback in Orlando?

ICL 12+ comeback at iFLY Orlando
posted Oct 7th, 2017 - It was in February this year when the Florida Skydiving League held the last Indoor Cloud League event at iFLY Orlando before the first vertical wind tunnel for indoor training in the U.S.A. was retired for good.

FSL teams and competitors continued at iFLY Tampa with the larger 14+ flying chamber and still continued to post some scores on the 12+ leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League. The new iFLY Orlando tunnel opened doors later this year, and ICL fans on the eastern side of Central Florida waited patiently for the next FSL Tunnel Kickers and Indoor Cloud League events at the new location in Orlando.

Last Thursday was the comeback day for the Indoor Cloud League on the 12+ leaderboard, and the October team celebrated the special occasion with the highest total since June 2016.

Six different lineups competed for the highest scores on the new 12+ leaderboard for the month of October, and four of them posted the new scores and videos for the Florida Skydiving League in Orlando. The lineups included several participants who have also competed for iFLY Tampa in the meantime, and the combination of Tampa and Orlando lineups joined forces for the total of 128 points on the 12+ leaderboard for October.

The Orlando team also included competitors of the Florida Skydiving League who recently posted outdoor scores at the USPA Nationals 2017.

The NSL News used the opportunity of the Indoor Cloud League event to share their experiences at the national championships during a new NSL Live Talk.

Emily Bombardi is one of the newest 4-way competitors in Florida, and she attended her first national championship event with 4-way team Hands Full in the AA/Intermediate Class in Perris.

Hands Full finished in 21st place of 37 teams with an 8.0 average, and Emily Bombardi also continued with her team mates Brian Turk and Ed Ganley in 8-way (Hands on Tails).

She showed extraordinary motivation and dedication to her team plans after she broke a finger of her right hand three weeks before Round 1 in Perris.

She missed the 4-day training camp in September and was back in action for the last training jumps before the competition in Perris. There she also injured a finger of her left hand and still completed ten competition jumps in 4-way and 8-way. Another week later after coming back from California she posted the highscore for the RRR sequence at iFLY Orlando.

Amer Kassas was in her lineup last Thursday. He had trained and competed with Skydive City's 4-way team SCZ ZEUS at the USPA Nationals in the same category as Emily Bombardi.

It was his second trip to the national championships with ZEUS who had finished with a 7.7 average at the USPA Nationals 2016. The ZEUS 2017 lineup now posted a 10.1 average in Perris for the 11th place.

James Hall and Jimmy Xu completed the group of Indoor Cloud League competitors in Orlando last Thursday who were in Perris for the national championships.

They were team mates with Fast4ward XP and competed in the AAA/Advanced Class as a guest team, where they challenged winner Ranch 2nd Generation (R2G) for the top spot on the leaderboard. Jimmy Xu was also a member of Z-Hills PreciZion who won USPA Intermediate Class gold medals last year.

James Hall and Jimmy Xu both have participated at FSL Tunnel Kickers and Indoor Cloud League events for several years and are now helping other local and regional 4-way competitors to learn more about 4-way competition. James Hall was also in Team Kaputt's lineup last Thursday who posted the highscores for the AAA and AA sequences in Orlando.
