Did You Know...

... that 14 nations have competed in 4-way Women between 2013 and 2016?

4-way Women awards at the FAI Mondial 2016
posted Nov 17th, 2017 - The FAI 2016 rankings in 4-way Women are listing only 14 teams, which is the total number of participating nations at FAI world meets and world cups in this category between 2013 and 2016.

France was the FAI world leader at the end of the 2016 season, even though the Golden Knights were undefeated since August 2014 until they discontinued after the gold medals at the FAI Mondial 2016. The U.S. delegation did not have a 4-way Women team at the FAI World Cup 2015 in Teuge, which explains the 4th place in the rankings.

The French national team in 4-way Women had several personnel changes between 2013 and 2016 and still won either gold (2013, 2014, 2015) or silver (2016) at the four FAI meets.

The SKYLEAGUE.COM team rankings for 2016 are identical with the results at the world meet for the first six places. Great Britain (NFTO) and Canada (Parachute Montreal Fuzion) finished in 3rd and 4th place in Ottawa but did not collect enough FAI points in 2013 and 2015 to finish in the same positions in the FAI rankings.

Russia and France were the only two nations who had teams at all four FAI events between 2013 and 2016, which was rewarded with the first two place in the FAI 2016 rankings, even though the Infra Red Band finished only in 9th

Australia did not have a 4-way Women team at the FAI World Cup 2013 and attended only three of the four events, the same number of attendances as the Golden Knights for the United States. Australia still ended up ahead of the U.S.A. in 3rd place due to the higher value of a more recent FAI meet. Bellatrix finished in 6th place for Australia at the FAI Mondial 2016 and on the SKYLEAGUE.COM team rankings.

Les Stunts competed for Belgium in 2016 and finished ahead of Infra Red Band and Bellatrix at the world meet, while ending up behind Russia and Australia in the FAI nations rankings.

Poland (No Mercy), Czech Republic (CZ Ladies) and Germany (Skymix) claimed the last three spots in the Top 10 of the FAI rankings and at the world meet in Ottawa, just in a slightly different order. Only one team placed neither in the FAI Top 10 nor at the FAI Mondial 2016 and still made the SKYLEAGUE.COM rankings - Meija from Sweden with an 11.7 average at their national championships..

Meija pushed the Czech Ladies out of the Top 10 in the 2016 rankings and then competed at the FAI World Cup 2017 where the Swedish team moved closer to No Mercy from Poland.

Meija at the FAI World Cup 2017 in Saarlouis
Sweden will most likely climb up the FAI rankings in 2017 after the showing in Saarlouis this year. The five nations ahead of Sweden did not attend the FAI World Cup 2017, while Meija collected the freshest FAI points for the 2017 rankings.

The 13.8 average will probably move the Swedish team up the SKYLEAGUE.COM world team rankings, as well, and Meija has even more to offer, as the 14.5 average at this year's national championships was showing.

Meija may not make it to the medal positions in Australia 2018 in 4-way Women; however, some other national teams better watch out in this category.

Sweden also had Team X with a strong performance at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017. FAI is not offering an indoor nations ranking yet, and the NSL News will follow up later with indoor team rankings.
