Did You Know...

... that Aerokart Deep Blue also owns the unofficial indoor world record?

Aerokart Deep Blue at the FAI World Meet 2010
posted Nov 21st, 2017 - Yesterday's update covered the new FAI/IPC world records in the three 4-way categories (Open - Women - Junior) since the adoption and introduction of the indoor events in 2014.

The same story included a review of the standing 4-way outdoor records for the "longest 4-way sequence" within 35 seconds, which were both posted in Round 3 of the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving in Menzelinsk 2010.

Arizona Airspeed's recently posted 59-pointer FAI/IPC indoor world record in Montreal is higher than the highest outdoor score that was posted by France and Russia in Menzelinsk 2010 (56).

This is not surprising, as indoor scores are usually significantly higher than outdoor scores, which include exits, sub-terminal pages and skydiving gear.

However, the situation is different in 4-way Women where the official FAI/IPC outdoor world record is Deep Blue's 47-pointer that the French national team posted at the same event in Menzelinsk 2010.

The standing FAI/IPC indoor world record is the 41-pointer of the Golden Knights, as the NSL News explained yesterday, and the outdoor world record is still the higher one.

Aerokart Deep Blue at the World Challenge 2010
Naturally, the competition draw for a Super Sequence is a major factor in the world record game, and the Golden Knights scored their 41-pointer for a significantly slower sequence (L,K,7,C) that included Block 7.

Deep Blue could take advantage of the same sequence (J,M,Q,P,L) that also generated the 56-pointer outdoor world record in 4-way Open.

The sequence for the indoor world record in 4-way Junior (36) included Block 7 (F,7,L) as well, and the French Aerokart Ak'demie 2 team completed 39 points within working time before three point deductions.

The sequence was actually even slower than the one of the Golden Knights, which included a third random formation for additional quicker transitions.

Yesterday's story was still missing a piece of the world record puzzle. The review of the outdoor history brought back the French 4-way Women world champions of 2010, Aerokart Deep Blue, who initiated the French dominance in this event until the Golden Knights interfered in 2015 and 2016.

French Weembi Girls at the FAI World Cup 2017
The NSL News explained that Airspeed's 59-pointer was not the highest indoor score in 4-way Open Class indoor history.

A few other teams had scored higher before, and Perris Fury is leading the list with a 66-pointer at the World Challenge 2010.

The Round 11 sequence at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 (F,O,9,E) was also slower compared to the 60+ sequences in Bedford, even though Block 9 is the fastest one in the current 4-way dive pool. Airspeed had posted 55 in 2010 and 60 in 2011 at the World Challenge.

The previous world record story included the highscores at other events in 4-way Open that are not sanctioned by FAI/IPC, while it missed the 4-way Women numbers. That's where the story goes back to Deep Blue who do not only own the official FAI/IPC outdoor record.

Deep Blue competed at the same World Challenges where the other highscores in 4-way Open were posted.

The French national team in 4-way Women of 2010 actually outscored Arizona Airspeed at the World Challenge in April with a 59-pointer that matches Airspeed's new official FAI/IPC indoor world record and is the highest number in 4-way Women history.

The Golden Knights own the official 4-way Women world record with the 41 pointer at the 1st FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championships in 2015.

French Weembi Girls at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017
However, the current French lineup in 4-way Women, who ended up behind the Golden Knights in 2nd place at the FAI Mondial 2016, easily won the gold medals at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 with impressive scores.

They could not challenge the 41-pointer world record for a round, even though they came close in Round 5 (A,J,6,L) with a 38-pointer for a slower sequence. The French Weembi Girls still performed on world record level at other events.

In fact, they outscored the Golden Knights with a 43-pointer at the World Challenge 2017 with a sequence (P,9,J,7) that was slower than the one for the Golden Knights (L,K,7,C) in Prague 2015.

They had also matched the 41-pointer earlier at the Wind Games 2017 with a slot switching sequence (Q,O,17,A) in Round 3.

Both events are not sanctioned by FAI/IPC, and the French Weembi Girls have to wait for a fast sequence at the next indoor world meet or world cup...
