posted Dec 18th, 2017 - The Brazilian 4-way team Harpia joined the 12+ competition of the Indoor Cloud League in July this year. The NSL News introduced the team with the ICL update on July 17th.

Adriana Garcia (Point), Augusto Rosa (Tail), Humberto do Prado (Outside Center) and Ricardo Pettená (Inside Center) performed the first sequence in July at the 12-foot flying chamber of iFLY Sao Paulo and started at the bottom of the 12+ leaderboard.

By the end of November, Harpia has taken the top position of all A Class teams and lineups in this time period.

Harpia also posted a score and a video for the AA Class sequence in August, as the Brazilian team is preparing for the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2018 where they will compete in the AA/Intermediate Class.

The monthly A and AA sequences of the Indoor Cloud League can be also be drawn for any Intermediate Class competition in the U.S.A.

However, Harpia has been focusing on the A Class sequences of the Indoor Cloud League as a starting point for the complete AA/Intermediate Class dive pool.

The video of Harpia's A Class performances since July is showing four matching white jump suits at the first sequence, while a black one has been in the inside center position since August. Harpia had a personnel change earlier this year. Ricardo Pettena had to step back when he was diagnosed with bone cancer and needed intensive and ongoing treatment.

Ricardo Pettena has been one of the early partners of Skydive University. He started skydiving in 1971 at the age of 13 and has completed more than 10,000 jumps. He is a 20-time Brazilian champion in 4-way, 8-way and 10-way and has coached several other Brazilian champion teams. He competed at several world meets and world cups and captained Brazilian teams at the 282-way and 300-way world records in Thailand and Arizona.

He has lived and worked in Deland for many years preparing new projects for the local, regional and the world's skydiving community.

Ricardo Pettena was the player coach when Humberto do Prado launched Harpia's 4-way indoor team project and is now only focused on his health. There is a fund-raising campaign where friends and supporters are helping to collect resources for the expensive treatment.

Harpia decided to continue, and the team had to find a new inside center. Pedro Ushizima is the new and temporary Harpia member who has been flying in the black jump suit.

Pedro Ushizima is also one of the most experienced Brazilian 4-way competitors. In fact, he was competing for Brazil at the FAI World Meet 2001, and his team mate was Thiago Gomes, who is now Arizona Airspeed's inside center.

He also competed with Brazil's national 4-way team CTR Optimum (Ziara Abud, Fábio Diniz, André Ferraz, Renato Acerbi on camera) at the FAI World Meet 2006 in Germany.

Six years later, Pedro Ushizima joined CTR Optimum's 8-way lineup and competed at the FAI Mondial 2012 in Dubai.

He will train and compete with Harpia until Ricardo Pettena will be back in his slot, even though he will not travel to Paraclete XP in February 2018.

Harpia has already secured a different inside center for the meet. Kirk Verner will fill the slot in his home chamber...
