Did You Know...

... that the 2017 indoor rankings in the AA Class are much more colorful?

World's 2017 outdoor leader in AA: Vega XP
posted Dec 28th, 2017 - The AA Class rankings are a very different story compared to the AAA Class that the NSL News covered two days ago.

The NSL News pointed out that 15 of the 20 listed AAA Class indoor teams are also competing at outdoor events. Only five teams have attended exclusively indoor meets.

This overlapping participation made the Top 10 rankings of the ultimate 4-way combination look very similar between the two different AAA Class disciplines.

The AA Class Top 20 indoor rankings have barely a handful of teams that are also competing at outdoor events. One major reason is the fact that the 4-way Junior teams are exclusively limited to indoor competition, and the best five junior teams are ranked within the Top 20.

The NSL News had reported on 1 November 2017 how the 4-way juniors have taken command on the AA Class leaderboards. The final 2017 indoor rankings are only reflecting the same situation.

There is also the Olczyk Flyspot Team from Poland in 5th place, which consists of parents training and competing with their two daughters. A few additional teams, such as the Skydive University team from Slovakia, have not attended outdoor meets, as well.

On the other hand, the Top 20 indoor rankings include several teams that consist of outdoor competitors who create different lineups at indoor events just for a meet. The AA Class rankings are indeed the most colorful combination of all possible indoor/outdoor lineup combinations.

The Top 20 outdoor ranking seems to be much more realistic in its order, as well as the Top 10 of the ultimate 2017 ranking with the combination of all indoor and outdoor results.

It is quite telling that the world's AA Class outdoor leader in 2017, Vega XP, is not even within the Top 20 indoor ranking. However, the combined indoor/outdoor ranking has the reigning USPA Intermediate Class champion back in one of the Top 3 positions. CoNEXTion 4 XP, Vega's toughest opponent throughout the 2017 season, is slightly ahead this time. The NSL News covered this U.S. duel on 17 October 2017.

The DeLoreans of the Northern California Skydiving League took the top spot with the team's dominating indoor average, after competing at two outdoor meets with 10+ averages. The Indoor Cloud League participation and the meets of the World Tunnel League keep the DeLoreans obviously in good indoor shape. Meta 4, this year's USPA silver medalists behind Vega XP with Cali4nia Raptors, posted the second highest indoor average and finishes in 4th place of the ultimate 4-way rankings.

It becomes a more international team mixture behind the Top 4 from the United States. Falco is the best Belgian and European AA Class team after winning the ESL Championship 2017 in Saarlouis. Only the Czech HF Junior Cubs outscored Falco in the 18-team field of the ISR Grand Prix 2017, and the 1st place at Belgium's national indoor championship concluded a very successful 2017 season for Falco.

Two British teams follow the Belgians in the ultimate 4-way rankings, including UK's AA Class champion at the national championships, Salty Jacks, who posted their indoor average at the World Challenge 2017.

Blok 43 from the Netherlands completes the international rankings, with teams from four different countries with U.S. dominance. Blok 43 started at the Tomscat Trophy this year, won the national outdoor championships of the Netherlands and then attended the same three events as Falco for a total of five 2017 meets.
