Did You Know...

... that the Florida Rookie Class teams had their own January competition?

iFLY Orlando's Indoor Cloud League team in January
posted Jan 23rd, 2018 - The Florida Skydiving League teams and competitors posted the first Indoor Cloud League scores of the new year at iFLY Tampa, as the NSL News reported on 18 January 2018, followed by Harpia's AA Class score for the 12+ sequence from Brazil.

A different group of FSL competitors then came together last week to start the ICL 2018 season on the 12+ leaderboard at iFLY Orlando.

Three different lineups took on the AA Class sequence that had Harpia's 14-pointer as the January benchmark in this category. Amer Kassas, James Hall, Bob Byrne and Jimmy Xu posted the highest AA Class score in Orlando, which outscored Harpia by two points for the new 16-pointer highscore of the month at this point in time.

The first ICL event in Orlando this year brought back Leigh Estabrook and Randy Cutlip to the Indoor Cloud League competition. The former DeLand Momentum team mates had participated at earlier ICL events at the old iFLY wind tunnel in Orlando. Last week's visit was their first one at an FSL Tunnel Kicker in the new facilities. They produced the A Class score for the ICL Orlando team, together with Suzette Hechst and Alison Bawden.

Double duties in Tampa and Orlando: Kanishka Perera - Bob Byrne - James Hall
James Hall, Bob Byrne, Amer Kassas and Kanishka Perera had also attended January's FSL Tunnel Kicker in Tampa with different lineups. Last week, James Hall, Bob Byrne and Kanishka Perera joined forces in the same team and posted scores in two categories.

Their 12-pointer for the AA Class sequence was not enough to make it to the ICL January leaderboard. The 27-pointer for the A Class sequence was the highest score in Orlando; however, the lineup had too many player coaches for this category, and another team ended up on the January leaderboard.

The two Florida teams in Orlando and Tampa are posting their scores on different ICL leaderboards. However, the Rookie Class lineups can always compare their scores directly, as the sequences are identical.

The Orlando team won the internal Rookie Class competition (36 - 33) in the smaller flying chamber. Both ICL teams posted scores only for the same two of the three Rookie Class sequences. They still have plenty of time to add a scoring number for the R Class sequence in January...
