Did You Know...

... that the start into the new Indoor Cloud League year could not be any more exciting?

Starting from behind this year: FSL team in Tampa
posted Feb 8th, 2018 - The coverage of the first Indoor Cloud League month of the new year concludes with updates from iFLY Dallas and iFLY Seattle and the monthly summary.

Former Dallas 350 team mates Scott Levy and Lucas King were back together in the AAA Class lineup for iFLY Dallas in January and organized the six sequences together with their assistant player coaches Zach Breaux and Genifer Oliver.

The total of 98 points places iFLY Dallas in 4th place on the 14+ leaderboard for the 2018 starting point. The Florida Skydiving League team had finished in 4th place at the end of the 2017 season and missed a scoring number for the R Class sequence. The FSL team at iFLY Tampa is starting from behind iFLY Dallas this year.

Amanda Lampton reported from Texas that one of her new ICL participants started off with the highscore in the R Class. The 32-pointer turned into 25 ICL scoring points on the official leaderboard after the new capping of all scores above the 25-point benchmark. Even though her team lost seven points for the January total, Amanda Lampton still approved the new rule, which is supposed to even the playing field and control the potential of "sand-bagging". The capping rule limited four of the six R Class lineups on the 14+ leaderboard to 25-pointers, and two RR Class scores followed the same rules.

iFLY Orlando's RR Class team (Suzette Hechst, Alison Bawden, Bob Palatka, Amer Kassas) actually had their own way to get to the 25 points and were not corrected by the capping rule. They completed 26 points within working time and had one regular point deduction due to an infringement.

iFLY Seattle's RR Class lineup completed 28 points and was cupped at 25, and the same lineup was also one of the four that were stopped at 25 in the R Class. Seattle Swift member and ICL organizer Djordje Mandaric said that he saw a few new faces in Team Seattle: "Slavko Pesic and Ryan Bartling were the newbies, Slavko having never done any 4-way and Ryan having flown previously in Eloy, but being new to Seattle."

He said that there were several late cancellations prior to the start of the January competition, and the organizers were challenged. However, the open slots were ultimately filled, and the event "went off without a hitch".

The iFLY Seattle team had coaches Deb and Dave Correia back in the lineup after a longer vacation, and Seattle Swift started their 2018 training by performing the two 4-way Open Class sequences (AAA - AA).

The start into the new Indoor Cloud League 2018 season could not have been more promising. The NSL News gave the tie on the 14+ leaderboard the deserved attention on 4 February 2018, and it was not much different on the 12+ leaderboard where the two Northern California Skydiving League teams battled for the best starting point.

The Florida team at iFLY Orlando will probably join this battle, while the Tampa team has work to do, as well, after missing a Rookie Class score in January.

Flybox Israel has no problem with the Rookie Class categories. Baat Enosh is working on bringing her best flyers to the AAA Class level, where the complete dive pool with slot switchers and longer sequences are waiting.

Baat Enosh collected her own AAA Class experiences when she lived and trained in California. She moved back to Israel, and she was inspired by Northern California Skydiving League director Lori Connor who has brought the NCSL and both ICL teams at iFLY SF Bay and iFLY Sacramento to great success. Baat Enosh is now guiding her Flybox team into the second Indoor Cloud League year.
