Did You Know...

... that the French Indoor Nationals will be hosted once again by Weembi Lille?

French Weembi Girls at the French Nationals 2017
posted Feb 14th, 2018 - This year's French Indoor Nationals will once again be hosted by Weembi Lille. The NSL News had provided event coverage live from the event site a year ago and will re-visit France this March. Last month, Weembi Lille was also selected to host the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019.

The first NSL Power Ranking for the event is showing the French national teams in the top spots, Realfly Sion and French Weembi Girls. Guest team NMP PCH HayaBusa won the event last year, Weembi High Rollers placed 2nd and qualified as the French national indoor team for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 where they won the silver medals for France.

The French Weembi Girls finished in 3rd place, nine points ahead of the French national Open Class team. However, Realfly Sion has the top spot in the current NSL Power Ranking, due to the 30.4 average at the Wind Games 2018. Both French national teams will battle again for the top spot, on the same leaderboard this time.

Gavroche, with lineups of former French 8-way world champions, will probably have the opportunity to win 4-way bronze medals this year if the Weembi High Rollers are not coming back. Julien Degen competed with Gavroche at the Wind Games, as the High Rollers had no plans for the event.

French Indoor Nationals 2017 at Weembi Lille
One of the other exciting battles on the Weembi leaderboard can be expected right behind the medal rankings.

Odin Parachute System, Tenanine and Weembi Legion just finished their last ten indoor meet rounds at the Wind Games, where they finished right next to each other within nine points.

The placing was not expected in this order, as the NSL Power Ranking in the preview on 1 February 2018 is showing. Odin, with young Elisa Camproux and her father Arnaud in the lineup, had finished with a 20.5 average at the French Nationals 2017, and the two opponents had significantly higher numbers in their scoring records.

Odin then posted a 23.2 average in Empuriabrava and impressed especially with the faster sequences. It will become difficult for Tenanine and Weembi Legion to turn the order again at the French Indoor Nationals, as Odin seems to have potential for much more. The team lost a total of 17 points due to infringements and the according point deductions.

Test for Qatar Tigers: Weembi Girls 8-way team
The Odin opponents, Tenanine and Weembi Legion, both have a wealth of competition experience in their lineups. Former 4-way and 8-way world champion Martial Ferre and his 8-way business partner Marco Arrigo are player coaching for Moulay Abbas from Mauritania. Former French 8-way champion and Aerokart Ak'demie coach Mathieu Cannesson is completing the lineup.

Marco Arrigo is a former team mate of Livio Piccolo who is in the Weembi Legion lineup, together with former French 8-way world champion Bruno Perin. Marco Arrigo and Livio Piccolo competed for Italy's national 4-way team Sinapsi PD at the world meets in 2003 and 2004 and missed a bronze medal by one point in Croatia 2004. Livio Piccolo continued with Sinapsi and won bronze two years later in Germany 2006.

The 8-way competition at the French Nationals will feature an interesting competition between the defending French champions, the all-female Weembi Girls lineup, and the Qatar Falcons.

The Weembi Girls could not keep up with Belgian's FlyIn Machine 44 last year, while they fended off Martial Ferre's Veloce QRF 8-way experts. The Qatar Tigers will get the test they are looking for with the Weembi home team, in their pursuit of bronze medals at the FAI World Meet 2018 in Australia...
