Did You Know...

... that two NFTO members could study their outdoor opponent from Russia?

NFTO at the World Challenge 2018
posted Apr 23rd, 2018 - The NSL News reported the tie-breaking drama in 4-way Women at the FAI European Indoor Championship 2018 with the update on 14 April 2018.

The story was mostly zooming in on the new/old tie-breaking rules that decided the outcome of the indoor competition in Norway. The meet videos of the two teams now provide a better impression of the actual competition between Volto from Great Britain and Bubble Trouble from Russia.

The earlier story on 13 April 2018, in the aftermath of the World Challenge 2018, explained that two NFTO members (Anna Hicks, Vana Parker) would join forces with two Volition members (Kate Lindsley, Sian Stokes) to compete for Great Britain at the first FAI European Indoor Championship. Volition was the British national indoor team in 4-way Women at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 and had won the silver medals behind Aerodyne Weembi Girls in October last year. NFTO won bronze medals for Great Britain at the previous World Championship of Formation Skydiving, the FAI Mondial 2016.

The outcome in Norway was the same as at the previous FAI meet in Montreal. France won gold, and Great Britain took the silver medals, while Russia did not have a 4-way Women team in Canada and now finished 3rd in Norway.

Volition at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017
The update on April 13th presented the situation in Norway after Round 8. Volto had a 2-point lead over Bubble Trouble, while the Aerodyne French Girls were almost 50 points ahead of both teams.

Volto even added four more points to the lead in Round 9 and clearly looked like the winner of the silver medals going into Round 10 six points ahead. However, Bubble Trouble found a way to eliminate the difference completely in only one round, with a 3-point penalty support by the British team.

Bubble Trouble then had their own penalty troubles in the extra round where they were still going with the faster pace. Both teams ended up with 21-pointers on their score sheets, Volto after only one and Bubble Trouble after two point deductions.

The tie in the extra round caused the application of the latest FAI/IPC rules for the tie-breaking procedure, and Volto received the set of silver medals. NFTO members Anna Hicks and Vana Parker went back to England with a good impression of their outdoor opponents from Russia at the upcoming FAI World Meet 2018 in Australia...
