It began actually already in January when the two teams of the Northern California Skydiving League, one at iFLY SF Bay and the other one at iFLY Sacramento, were separated by only one single point (102 - 101).
The Florida Skydiving League team at iFLY Orlando joined the race in February after a slower start of the year and finished only one single point (100 - 101) behind iFLY SF Bay for the month.
The March competition featured the next 1-point finish (111 - 110), again for the top spot, and this time between iFLY Orlando and iFLY Sacramento. At that point in time, each of the three teams with complete sets of six scores each month had won once this year.

The May competition brought the next tie, this time between the two teams from Northern California, while Florida fell behind with the lowest monthly total of the year.
The 85 points for May were costly for the iFLY Orlando team, as they lost the second place on the 12+ leaderboard for the 2018 season to iFLY SF Bay, while nothing changed between the west coast teams. The Florida team was only competitive in the A Class, where Suzette Hechst, Kanishka Perera, Amer Kassas and Bob Byrne posted the highscore with a 21-pointer.
The competition between the teams from Northern California for the top spot in May had its own dynamics and two different parts.

Both A Class lineups tied were tied before penalties, and the iFLY SF Bay team lost one point only due to the video angle.
SF Bay's RRR Class lineup (Achal Asawa, Ray Hebert, Kiran Shivaram, Ron Put) saved the month for their ICL team with the 23-pointer, while Sacramento finished with the lowest score of the year in this category.
The other two Rookie Class scores brought Sacramento back to the final tie level, after the cupping rule was applied three times, two times for both Sacramento scores and once for SF Bay's R Class score. iFLY Sacramento maintains a 40-point lead (549 - 509) in 1st place after the first five months of the year.
