... that NSL-TV and InTime feature the British battle for gold at the UK Nationals 2018?

AAA Class winner at the UK Nationals 2018: NFTO
posted Aug 28th, 2018 - The battle between NFTO, British national team in 4-way Women, and 4-way Open Class team Satori XL continued only for one more round at the UK Nationals 2018, after the NSL News had posted an update on 27 August 2018.

NFTO was one single point ahead after Round 8 on Sunday evening, and the missing two rounds were scheduled for Monday. The standings after Round 8 were already a surprise, as Satori's lineups of the past never had to work so hard to win the national championships.

NFTO had made a statement at the Women team into Satori's 4-way Open Class territory.

Hib Cup in July that they would be able to post a 20+ average, which would bring the 4-way Satori XL was not able to change the situation in the slower Round 9 on Monday, where both teams posted 17-pointers. Satori XL would have one more chance to turn the table with the interesting sequence of Round 10 (3-21-H). However, the weather situation did not allow the completion of all ten rounds, and NFTO carried the 1-point lead over the finish line.

AAA Class awards at the UK Nationals 2008
Last weekend's outcome was the first time since 2008 that Satori did not win the national AAA Class title, and this year's situation was very similar to the one ten years ago.

It was the all-female Bodyflight Storm lineup (Hannah Betts, Claire Scott, Sarah Smith, Kate Stephens, Gary Wainwright on camera) who won the national AAA Class 4-way title in 2008. Bodyflight Storm came to the national championships as the newly crowned world champions in 4-way Women after the FAI World Meet in August 2008.

The battle for the British AAA Class top spot in 2008 was very special, too, as Satori's lineup consisted of three female 4-way competitors (Julia Foxwell, Liz Matthews, Katie Woods) and Aaron Faith, with Ian Ridpath on camera. Last weekend's Satori XL lineup was an all-male lineup (Pete Allum, Ady King, Peter Mather, John McIver, Rich Orford on camera) who finished behind the national team in 4-way Women.

Both teams will have an indirect re-match at the FAI World Meet 2018, where they will use the same competition draw while posting their scores on different leaderboards.

Qualified for FAI World Cup 2019: Alola
Only eight rounds were scheduled for the British AA Class teams, who completed their competition on Sunday.

The NSL News explained on 10 August 2018 that the AA Class winners at the UK Nationals win tickets to compete for the UK delegation at the next FAI World Cup. There were actually four teams in contention for the special spot on top of the AA Class leaderboard, while Alola and Draconis eventually battled it out for the 1st place.

The all-female Alola team now has the opportunity to move up into the AAA Class next year and compete at the FAI World Cup 2019 at Skydive Arizona in Eloy. They would post their FAI/IPC scores on the 4-way Women leaderboard, unless they sign up for the 4-way Open Class competition.

All British 4-way teams still have the opportunity to compete for the UK delegation at the ESL Championship 2018 in September.
