Did You Know...

... that the NMP PCH HayaBusa - Weembi duel has a 4-year history?

First Weembi Lille lineup at the World Challenge 2015
posted Oct 22nd, 2018 - The NSL News mentioned on 17 October 2018 that the 2018 competition season was not over yet for the old and new 4-way outdoor world champions from Belgium. NMP PCH HayaBusa still want to defend their indoor top spot later this week at the FAI Indoor World Cup in Bahrain.

First they traveled back to Belgium for a short break and a quick below-3-hour marathon for Jeroen Nollet, plus some indoor training, before the next long trip to the Arabian Peninsula. Bahrain is the place where the same Weembi Mix lineup will be waiting that made HayaBusa's indoor life very difficult at the World Challenge 2018.

The upcoming indoor showdown features once again the next very strong Weembi lineup, after Julien Degen and Roy Janssen launched the indoor project in 2015.

In fact, it was Weembi Lille's co-owner Julien Degen who recruited the first Weembi lineup for the World Challenge 2015. Christine Malnis, Sophia Pecout and Thomas Perrin competed with him in Bedford. Julien Degen, Christine Malnis and Sophia Pecout now have Roy Janssen in the inside center slot, who used to be the original tail for NMP PCH HayaBusa until 2014.

Weembi Lille operation: Julien Degen
Julien Degen is one of the most successful French 4-way and 8-way competitors who is now co-running the Weembi Lille operation.

He started in the French 8-way team that won FAI gold medals in 2006 and 2008 before he, Jeremie Rollett, Mathieu and Guillaume Bernier also represented France in 4-way and won a gold medal in Menzelinsk 2010.

He has continued with training and competition in 4-way and 8-way whenever France sent him with any lineups to international competitions.

Then he started with the Weembi indoor business, training and competition after new French national teams were selected for the official international FAI events.

However, he is now back in official mission, as Weembi High Rollers and Weembi Mix both competed as the French national 4-way indoor teams. Weembi High Rollers represented France at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 and won silver medals behind HayaBusa. Weembi Mix competed as a French team at the World Challenge 2018 and are the official national team at the upcoming indoor world meet in Bahrain.

Weembi High Rollers at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017
Julien Degen and Roy Janssen formed the Weembi High Rollers after the first Weembi Lille appearance at the World Challenge 2015. Roy Janssen was in a similar situation as Julien Degen after the end of his Belgian competition career with NMP PCH HayaBusa.

Both were far from being done with 4-way competition. Julien Degen still competed one more time with the French 8-way lineup at the FAI Mondial 2016, while Roy Janssen had already been looking for new 4-way ventures.

They teamed up first with Julien Degen's former French 4-way and 8-way world champion team mates, brothers Mathieu and Guillaume Bernier. The Weembi High Rollers faced off with NMP PCH HayaBusa first at the Clash of Champions 2015 and challenged the Belgians six more times at indoor meets in 2016 and 2017.

Mathieu and Guillaume Bernier did not continue with the Weembi High Rollers after the last attempt to defeat HayaBusa at the Bahrain event last year in December. Julien Degen and Roy Janssen then teamed up with Aerodyne Weembi Girls Christine Malnis and Sophia Pecout and put a lot of pressure on HayaBusa in April this year at the World Challenge.

Weembi Mix at the World Challenge 2018
The Weembi Mix lineup has been training on a regular basis this year, while the efforts depended on the schedule of the French national team in 4-way Women. Christine Malnis and Sophia Pecout have been point and tail for the different lineups of the French Girls since the beginning of the 2013 season.

They won FAI outdoor gold medals in 4-way Women with Perrine Sanchez and Laurence Fugen in Prostejov 2014 (Rémy Grandcler on camera) and lost with the new and current lineup against the Golden Knights at the FAI World Meet 2016. The Aerodyne Weembi Girls continued with the same lineup and have set new indoor and outdoor standards in 4-way Women in 2017 and 2018.

In fact, the current lineup with Clementine Le Bohec (Inside Center) and Pamela Lissajoux (Outside Center) is the best 4-way team in the world behind NMP PCH HayaBusa and Arizona Airspeed.

Weembi Mix (Christine Malnis and Sophia Pecout - Julien Degen and Roy Janssen) finished only four points behind HayaBusa at the World Challenge in April, and the Belgian indoor and outdoor world champions can expect the next tough battle after the 2-point showdown with Arizona Airspeed in Australia...
