Did You Know...

... that the HF Cubs have moved very close to the silver medal position in 4-way Junior?

4-way Junior awards at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018
posted Oct 31st, 2018 - The chances for a Super Sequence to be drawn in a AA Class competition are naturally significantly higher compared to the AAA Class, where it is a real rarity, even though the FAI dive pool includes only 20 of the 22 blocks.

It is still very unusual that a AA Class draw generates two Super Sequences in an 8-round competition. This was the case in 4-way Junior at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018.

It was in fact the first time in the young history of this FAI category that the 4-way Junior teams had two rounds with sequences of only random formations in their 8-round competition. It was no surprise that all four participating teams posted team record numbers, and the Canadian Air Devils won with the first 30+ average for a 4-way Junior team.

It was still neither the Air Devils nor the Aerokart Ak'demie silver medalists from France who set the new 4-way junior world record in one of the two Super Sequences.

It was the bronze medalist from the Czech Republic, HF Cubs, who posted the highest scoring number in the history of the event with the 54-pointer in Round 6.

The HF Cubs ended up once again in 3rd place behind the same opponents that they have met at FAI events since 2016. However, the Czech junior team was closer to the silver medal position than ever before after increasing the scoring level from 22.6 at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 to 27.3 last weekend. The 54-pointer in Round 6 was also the first round that the Cubs won over their two main opponents at the same event.

The Czech all-female junior team was far behind France and Canada (16.3 - 19.9 - 20.4) at their first FAI competition in October 2016. A year later, at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 in Montreal, it was still a significant difference (22.6 - 26.0 - 28.8) that separated the bronze medal winner from their opponents ahead of them.

Last weekend, another year after the first confrontation with Air Devils and Aerokart Ak'demie, the French team could barely fend off the charging young ladies from the Czech Republic. The HF Cubs outscored the French team in three rounds (4 - 6 - 8) and tied another one. It was finally a 7-point difference (28.1 - 27.3) between silver and bronze in Bahrain.

The HF Cubs have been well prepared by Czech 4-way godfather Jan Klapka over the years and recently with the help of NMP PCH HayaBusa member David Grauwels. The participation at the events of the World Tunnel League and the Indoor Cloud League at the Hurricane Factory gave the HF Cubs plenty of competition practice and 4-way experiences.

Even in the world cup month of October the Cubs once again added 17 points to the Czech total of 127 points on the ICL leaderboard.

Jan Klapka has continued to prepare the next generation of 4-way competitors behind the HF Cubs for the future, while some of the Cubs members get ready for the next step into the AAA Class competition by training randomly with the all-female HF Chicks.

HF Flying Rebels, HF Dragonflies and HF Flying Chameleons are three Czech 4-way junior teams at the Hurricane Factory who have been training and competing with Jan Klapka in the same program.

Flying Rebels and Dragonflies both contributed once again significant scoring numbers to the Indoor Cloud League total for October, and the videos are showing impressive 4-way performances.

The 31-pointer of the HF Flying Rebels for the RR Class sequence had to be capped at 25 points, according to the ICL rules, and the young team still added a total of 47 points to the Czech ICL account.

HF Flying Circus competed in Bahrain, as well, and took care of the AAA and AA October sequences on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboard.

The Czech Republic was represented in all three 4-way categories in Bahrain, as the HF Chicks competed in 4-way Women. Team Sky, with Jirina Klapkova in the lineup, was the fourth team of the Czech Formation Skydiving delegation in Bahrain and posted scores in the 4-way Open Class.
