posted Dec 16th, 2018 - The NSL News has covered indoor activities in Brazil several times in the past. However, the news were almost exclusively related to the 12+ competition of the Indoor Cloud League.

Indoor team Harpia has posted scores on the 12+ leaderboard since July 2017 and has used the Indoor Cloud League to move gradually into 4-way indoor competition. Harpia began with performing the A Class sequences in 2017 and took on the AAA/AA Class sequences of the Indoor Cloud League in January this year.

Harpia had the goal to compete at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2018 and followed through with the trip to North Carolina in February this year. Coach Kirk Verner filled the open 4th slot, as Brazilian player coach Pedro Ushizima was not available. Harpia competed in the AAA Class at Paraclete XP and posted a 14.1 average at the team's first competition in this category.

Harpia has continued with indoor training ever since and now posted new scores at the Brazilian Indoor Nationals 2018. Pedro Ushizima was back in the lineup, and Harpia lifted the meet average significantly to 17.1 after the eight rounds at iFLY Sao Paulo earlier this month. Harpia plans to compete once again at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship in February 2019. Goal is the 18+ average benchmark.

CTR Optimum and Harpia at the Brazilian Indoor Nationals 2018

Brazil's national 4-way Open Class team CTR Optimum won the national indoor title with the team's first indoor scores in the NSL records. There was no other Brazilian 4-way team that was able to get close to the winner's 22.8 average.

Team founder André Ferraz is still in the lineup, while Juliana Sé, Ribeiro Daiton and George Narita have replaced the other original members (Fábio Diniz, Ziara Abud, Pedro Ushizima). Original members André Ferraz and Pedro Ushizima both competed at the FAI World Meet 2018, André Ferraz with CTR Optimum in 4-way, Pedro Ushizima with the Brazilian national 8-way team.

In Australia, CTR Optimum finished with the highest meet average and the best placement of a Brazilian 4-way team in the history of FAI world meets since 1985.

CTR Optimum was obviously not done after the world meet and at the end of the team's 14th year. The original lineup had posted their first scores in April 2005. The 22.8 indoor average is now also the highest indoor result of any Brazilian team in the much shorter wind tunnel history...
