Did You Know...

... that Out of the Blue's former videographer now moves in front of the camera?

Original Out of the Blue lineup
posted Dec 26th, 2018 - The Dutch 20+ Project was launched at the beginning of the 2017 season, and Out of the Blue has been a part of the project from the very beginning.

In fact, Out of the Blue has represented the Netherlands as the national 4-way team at all FAI events ever since, even though Team Orange was supposed to be the project's strongest lineup. Team Orange was not available for the international events and eventually left the representation of the Netherlands up to Out of the Blue.

The second AAA Class team of the Dutch 20+ Project gladly stepped in and competed for the Netherlands at the FAI World Cup 2017 in Saarlouis and then at the FAI World Meet 2018 in Australia, followed by the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 in Bahrain.

Out of the Blue has also attended several other 4-way meets since the start of the project in 2017. The Dutch team has currently a total of ten sets of scores in the NSL records, posted at six outdoor and four indoor meets.

Out of the Blue at the FAI World Meet 2018 in Australia
The Out of the Blue lineup has changed a few times since the team was formed in 2017. Mechie Voermans, Mandy Feijen, Danny Dorfel and Leon van Leeuwen were in the original lineup, with Bart Daenen on camera.

The original lineup completed the 2017 season with four meets, including the world cup in Saarlouis, and the first personnel change came at the end of the 2018 season. The rear piece with Mechie Voermans, Mandy Feijen continued, while the front piece of 2017 (Danny Dorfel, Leon van Leeuwen) was replaced by two members of the project's farm team of 2017, Team White, which was coached and guided by Paul Hofstee. Bart Daenen continued on camera.

The Out of the Blue 2018 lineup attended five meets (three outdoor - two indoor) and competed for the Netherlands at the world meet in Australia. There was consistent indoor and outdoor progression throughout the meets that both lineups attended.

The NSL News pointed out the battle between Out of the Blue and HF Flying Circus at the ISR Grand Prix 2018 with the story on November 26th. Both teams finished with new indoor record averages in Roosendaal.

Out of the Blue at the ISR Grand Prix 2018
The ISR Grand Prix was the last meet for the 2018 lineup, even though another meet was on the Out of the Blue schedule, the Belgian Indoor Nationals 2018.

Rick Verbunt did not continue after the ISR Grand Prix, and the team's videographer of the first two years, Bart Daenen, took the open slot.

Out of the Blue was excited about the latest change, as original team member Mandy Feijen explained: "A new chapter for team Out of the Blue. Bart Daenen will complete our new lineup for the next two years. We started this weekend with the Belgian Championships Indoor without any training. We hoped to do well, and we ended up with a 20.9 average. This is higher then we did at the World Cup in Bahrain, so we are wondering what the future will bring. We are very excited!!"

The previous lineup had posted a 20.2 average in Bahrain, and former videographer Bart Daenen stepped in with the 20.9 average in Belgium last week. The new Out of the Blue lineup will soon have a new opportunity to improve the new 10-round record average. The Dutch team plans to compete at the Wind Games 2019 at the beginning of February...
