posted Feb 25th, 2019 - Arizona Airspeed collected all energy they had and needed to fend off the strongest challenge by SDC Rhythm XP. It was the first round of the second day on early Sunday morning when the defending champions showed up on their peak performance level, and it happened once again at the right time.

The 1-point advantage after Round 7 on Saturday evening turned into a 10-point difference after Round 8 on Sunday morning, and the 4-way competition was over between SDC Rhythm XP and Arizona Airspeed. Seven of the scores for the ten rounds had only a 1-point difference, and both teams won one round by two points, with one tie. Then the fastest sequence of the meet in Round 8 alone created a 9-point difference, which was obviously enough for Airspeed to win the meet.

SDC Rhythm XP still finished with the team's first 30+ average, which could have easily been a 31+ with a better score for Round 8. The three Rhythm members in Paraclete XP's 8-way lineup (JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz, Andrew Happick) were also compensated for the unfortunate Round 8 in 4-way with the 1st place in the 8-way competition.

The 29.6 winning average was exactly the same that a different XP8 lineup had posted at the same place in March 2014.

NSL Live Talk with SDC Rhythm XP member Doug Barron at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2019

Four members of the current XP8 lineup (John D'Annunzio, Andrew Happick, Brian Krause, Kirk Verner) posted the same 10-round average in 2014. Doug Barron, Matt McLean, Will Pesek and Dalton Samuelson completed the lineup.

Doug Barron and Andrew Happick still trained and competed with Carolina Turbo XP in 4-way at that time, and their current Rhythm team mates JaNette and Steve Lefkowitz did not participate in 8-way.

Doug Barron and Andrew Happick were actually in pursuit of SDC Rhythm XP in 2014 and finished only nine points behind (24.7 - 25.6) at Paraclete, while Rhythm with Christy Frikken and Mikhail Markine tried to get closer to Arizona Airspeed (28.7) at the same time.

The 29.6 average in 8-way at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014 was still not enough to win the meet, as the world champion lineup of the Golden Knights won with a 30.7 average.

The situation for the Golden Knights has drastically changed by now. Matt Davidson is the only team member of 2014 in the current lineup, and Round 10 on Sunday was also his last time with the Golden Knights. The new lineup ended up in 4th place, and the XP8 lineup is miles ahead. XP8 is qualified as the U.S. national 8-way team for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019 in April and could meet the Qatar Falcons again at Weembi Lille, who finished with a new team record average at Paraclete.
