posted Mar 1st, 2019 - The NSL News reported on February 19th that two Czech 4-way juniors, Adela Vesela and Sabina Cioleková, would soon "write new history at the FAI Indoor World Meet".

They have been training and competing with HF Cubs in IPC's 4-way Junior indoor event (AA Class) at world meets and world cups, while they prepared themselves at the same time for the next step, the AAA Class competition.

The junior teams in the Czech Republic, as well as in a few other countries, are also the breeding ground for a new generation of 4-way competitors, and some of them (Yannick Bisson - 4Astrophe, Kylian Forsans - Monaco) have even transitioned to outdoor training and competition, as well.

Former HF Cubs member Tereza Zívalová has also become a senior member of HF Chicks earlier, the Czech national team in 4-way Women. The recent update explained that Adela Vesela and Sabina Cioleková made the same step, even though they are still young enough to compete in 4-way Junior at the same time. The Czech delegation for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, managed by Jan Klapka, was making plans accordingly, with Adela Vesela and Sabina Cioleková competing in 4-way Junior and 4-way Women both.

Double duties at the WTL meet in February: HF Chicks - HF Cubs

There would be no logistical problem between these two 4-way events. In fact, 4-way Open, 4-way Women and 4-way Junior have been separated at all previous FAI/IPC indoor events.

The competition draw for the 4-way Junior event is naturally a different one, based on the limited AA Class dive pool.

However, Jan Klapka was still unpleasantly surprised by news that came from the recent IPC meeting at the end of January. It was the same meeting where the new blocks (1, 13) got their final approval.

The Formation Skydiving committee of the FAI/IPC also changed the rules for the "Composition of Delegations" (6.3. of the IPC Competition Rules).

Paragraph 6.3.5. had limited only double duties between 4-way Open and 4-way Women until January 2019: "No competitor may compete in both the FS 4-Way Open event and FS Female 4-Way event."

Jan Klapka received a notice from the IPC after registering his teams for the upcoming event, which did not permit his two 4-way juniors to compete in 4-way Women, as well.

HF Chicks and HF Cubs at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018

Belgian's IPC delegate David Grauwels, NMP PCH HayaBusa member, helped the NSL News to clarify the situation. He explained that this additional change of the rules was decided upon at the recent meeting, and he provided the specific language, which has not been published in the current rules and regulations yet.

The previous version of paragraph 6.3.6. ("Any Competitor that competes in two different events must be listed separately on the entry form for each event.") was changed to the definition that does not permit double duties for 4-way juniors: "6.3.6. Junior competitors whose 15th birthday occurs before the official start of competition may, if they choose, enter an open category event. Any competitor may only enter one category."

Adela Vesela and Sabina Cioleková would be allowed to compete in 4-way Open or 4-way Women, but they would have to give up their participation in 4-way Junior to do so.

It was a surprising new regulation for Jan Klapka's Czech delegation. He will have to make a choice and will probably cancel the 4-way Women registration of the HF Chicks. HF Cubs will bring back a set of medals for the Czech delegation, while HF Chicks would need a peak performance to get into medal range. However, there will probably not be a Czech team in 4-way Women at the FAI Indoor World Meet...
