Did You Know...

... that seven AA Class teams of 2018 will be on the AAA leaderboard at the World Challenge 2019?

NMP PCH HayaBusa at the World Challenge 2011
posted Mar 25th, 2019 - The NSL News took a closer look at the field of teams in the three categories behind the AAA Class at the World Challenge 2019 on March 20th. The story pointed out that all four winners of last year's World Challenge will be back next month and move up into the next category.

NMP PCH HayaBusa is naturally the exception, and they will try to defend the title and win their 9th consecutive World Challenge AAA Class title since 2011.

The NSL Power Rankings in the other three categories was showing that MAD Team from Poland is probably the top contender in the A Class after winning the Rookie Class competition last year. Flyspot Omega, also from Poland, is expected to finish in the AA Class medal rankings after finishing in the A Class last year.

This time, the NSL News introduces the AA Class teams of 2018 who have made the final step in the 4-way progression and will compete in the AAA Class this year. This is a strong group of seven teams, and each of them has a scoring history in the NSL News database,

Windabona Angels, Tempo and Ayro at the World Challenge 2018
The World Challenge has always featured many battles in all four categories, which were not necessarily only for the medal positions. The competition between the AA Class teams of 2018 alone is one of the interesting parts of this year's AAA Class competition.

The new AAA Class teams will not only compare themselves with the teams who they competed with in the AA Class of 2018. They will also try to catch as many of the AAA Class teams who are a year or more ahead of them in the ultimate 4-way category.

There are also two different groups of the new AAA Class teams. Some of them collected their first AAA meet experiences already in 2018, after finishing off the AA Class period at the World Challenge. Tempo from Finland won the AA Class at last year's event in Bedford and then made the last step early, beginning with the national outdoor championships and two meets of Finland's World Tunnel League events.

Windobona Angels from Spain started later and competed in the AAA Class for the first time at the Wind Games 2019. Koloncok from Hungary has one meet of AAA Class experiences, as well, after attending the Slovakian Indoor Nationals this month.

Tempo - Windabona Angels - Ayro in the AA Class of the World Challenge 2018
Ayro at the Belgian Indoor Nationals in December 2018
The other four AAA Class newcomers at the World Challenge 2019 have a fresh start, as they completed the 2018 season in the AA Class. However, the NSL Power Rankings are showing two of the AA Class teams without any AAA meet experiences in 1st and 3rd place of the new AAA Class teams, Ayro and Stardust from Belgium.

Ayro is even seated as the top team in this group, even though they finished behind last year's AA winner Tempo at the World Challenge and don't have the AAA meet experiences that the team from Finland has collected. The NSL Power Rankings are based on the highest averages in the previous category, and Ayro ended up with the highest AA Class average at the Belgian Indoor Nationals in December, while Tempo competed already in the AAA Class.

There will be an exciting AAA Class battle between the three AA Class medalists of 2018 (Tempo - Windabona Angels - Ayro), and it will probably help all of them to put pressure on several of the other AAA Class teams who are currently seated in higher ranking positions.

The new AAA Class scores posted by Tempo, Windabona Angels and Koloncok indicate that the returning teams in this category have to watch out and keep an eye on the new opponents while trying to improve their own standings...
