Did You Know...

... that the ranking standards will be higher than ever at Weembi Lille?

AAA Class awards at the World Challenge 2018
posted Apr 3rd, 2019 - With nine teams attending first the World Challenge and then the FAI Indoor World Meet, it is also about time to take a closer look at the NSL Power Rankings related to the second high-profile competition within two weeks.

NMP PCH HayaBusa and Arizona Airspeed will battle with Weembi High Rollers for the three FAI medal positions at Weembi Lille. High Roller Julien Degen will have his own closer look at the two opponents while he is in Bedford with the Weembi Unicorns, together with Clementine Le Bohec, who will also compete for France in 4-way Women at the indoor world meet.

Qatar Tigers, Echochamber and Black Cat will follow right behind the medal positions hoping for their own peak performance and a weak meet for any of the three expected FAI medalists.

The Swiss Airheads and the German Airfource are probably planning for a peak surprise and a shorter distance than ever to the six top contenders on the world meet leaderboard. At the same time, they have to make sure that they are not jeopardizing a Top 10 spot with a weak performance, as they have to fend off ACM Weembi and Finland's Pro Team. HF Flying Circus and the best Spanish Papea lineup will have to come up with record averages to make the Top 10.

Equinox from Lithuania at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018
As every year, the overall indoor performance and scoring level has been going up. It may take a 20+ average to stay away from the very bottom of the leaderboard.

Aladeen, Hungary's national 4-way team, posted already a 19.8 average at the World Challenge 2018 and will most likely follow up with a 20+ this week. This leaves only H40 from Ireland and Equinox from Lithuania with more distance to get to the same benchmark.

H40 had an 18+ average at last year's World Challenge, and a whole year could be more than enough to add two average points, with enough indoor training.

Equinox traveled to Bahrain last year and competed at the FAI Indoor World Cup. The Lithuanian team has always been eager to be a part of international 4-way competition. The coming event will be the first FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving for Equinox, who also used to compete at outdoor events years ago.

Bronze medals for Amnesya at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018
The previous NSL News update provided information of the Oman Wolf team, last year's A Class winner at the World Challenge. Oman Wolf has stepped up into the AA Class; however, it is still too early for the AAA Class dive pool at a world meet. The team will hopefully represent the country soon at FAI world meets and world cups, as well.

The story still related to a national team that has competed at several FAI events in the past. In fact, Italy's reigning indoor and outdoor champions, Amnesya, are the bronze medalists of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018, while they are not even registered for the upcoming indoor world championship.

Italy will not be represented at the FAI event, even though a few Italian teams will compete at the World Challenge. Amnesya had a personnel change after a great performance at the FAI World Meet 2018, followed by the indoor bronze medals in Bahrain.

The new lineup, with returning members Chiara Brunetti and Giuseppe Cossu and new members Livio Piccolo and Ivan Quadrio, have not signed up for any of the upcoming high-profile meets, while Amnesya FAI bronze medalist Michele Silvi competes with Weembi Unicorns at the World Challenge.
