... that France posted a new 8-way world record and Tanay introduced a new technique for Block 10?

New world record: French 8-way team at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019

posted Apr 20th, 2019 - Meet director Patrice Girardin was on a fast pace on Saturday to get the FAI Indoor World Meet completed. The last two rounds in the 4-way events happened first thing in the morning, and Round 9 in 8-way followed soon after. The 8-way teams will finish the Formation Skydiving part of the event around noon.

The NSL News is going back to the Friday action, which had one of the many highlights in Round 6 of the 8-way competition. Paraclete XP8 mastered the fastest sequence of the 8-way meet with a 43-pointer, which tied their own highscore at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship. The 43-pointer in February had already tied the unofficial 8-way world record that the Golden Knights had posted at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2014.

The 43-pointer of the Golden Knights in 2014 and Paraclete XP8 yesterday did not survive the 8-way competition at Weembi Lille. Martial Ferre and his young French lineup added a point and posted a 44-pointer on the leaderboard of the 8-way Challenge.

The French 8-way team is done after the indoor world meet, and the team members will continue in different ways for the outdoor season. Paraclete XP8 will turn to outdoor competition now and try to qualify for the outdoor world meet next year in Tanay, as well.

NSL Live Talk with Jen and Matt Davidson - New world record in Round 6 - New technique in Round 8

New Block 10 technique: Tanay 8-way team
image by: Federation Francaise De Parachutisme
The new NSL-TV video clips include a NSL Live Talk with Jennifer and Matt Davidson, who both visited Weembi Lille. Matt Davidson was the official alternate for Paraclete XP8 at the indoor world meet, and Jennifer Davidson was on vacation in France. She continues with the Golden Knights, and they may face each other as 8-way opponents at the USPA Nationals.

It was not only the 8-way world record in Round 6 that caught the attention of NSL News and audience. In fact, Round 8 brought another interesting situation when Russia's 8-way team from Tanay introduced a different technique for Block 10 (Donut - Donut).

Until yesterday, all 8-way teams have been using the same directions for the individual 540 turns. The Tanay team applied the same technique that 4-way teams use for two blocks in the 4-way dive pool (7 - 14), except for the Canadian team Evolution, who had added Block 15 (Cat - Cat) to the cogging option.

Tanay was cogging the individual turns for the 8-way Cat and the required 540 turns, and they out-performed all other 8-way teams at Weembi Lille with this block technique. Team member and founder Andrey Barabash gave his team mate Sergey Yalpaev the credit for the invention...
