Did You Know...

... that April was a very busy and very successful month for the Czech national teams?

Skydive University Slovakia with Jan Klapka at Weembi Lille
posted May 2nd, 2019 - The month of April was another very busy time period for the Czech teams who competed at the FAI Indoor World Meet. HF Flying Circus and HF Cubs both first competed at the Hurricane Factory's April meet of the World Tunnel League and then performed the April sequences of the Indoor Cloud League a few days later.

Then they had a few days of rest before driving from Prague to Lille in France for the indoor world meet.

There was a third team with exactly the same meet and travel agenda. Skydive University Slovakia has been joining the events at the Hurricane Factory since 2016 and posted their scores once again at the World Tunnel League meet, then took on the Indoor Cloud League sequences, as well. At the end, they followed up for Slovakia at the indoor world meet.

The next battle between HF Flying Circus and HF Cubs for the highest Open Class scores on the Czech ICL leaderboard (AAA/AA) was closer than ever before and indicated that both teams were ready for the challenges at the indoor world meet: HF Cubs for the gold medal battle with Aerokart Ak'demie, HF Flying Circus for one of the Top 10 spots on the Open Class leaderboard at Weembi Lille.

HF Flying Circus, HF Cubs and Skydive University Slovakia all competed in the AAA Class at the April meet of the World Tunnel League. The HF Cubs would go back to the AA Class dive pool at the indoor world meet and still preferred to have the last competition test in the AAA Class.

At least the AA Class sequence of the Indoor Cloud League in April could have been drawn at the indoor world meet, as well, where eventually only one of the eight sequences was a AAA Class sequence at the same time (Round 5 - 20,B,21). The April competition of the World Tunnel League at the Hurricane Factory included two AA/Junior class sequences (Rounds 1 and 4), and the HF Cubs won over HF Flying Circus by the total score (59 - 58) for these two rounds.

HF Cubs were obviously prepared perfectly, as they won the FAI gold medals at Weembi Lille. HF Flying Circus were just as ready for their own very challenging battle as the Cubs were.

The NSL Power Rankings in one of the previews indicated a very tight situation in the battle for the last spot in the Top 10 rankings at the indoor world meet. HF Flying Circus was actually seated in 11th place, and the last Top 10 position was more likely to be taken by Finland's Pro Team.

HF Flying Circus - Pro Team at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
Pro Team at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
The Open Class competition between HF Flying Circus and Pro Team turned out to be just as exciting as it could be expected. In fact, it became a 1-point race that was decided in the last round.

HF Flying Circus had a 4-point lead at the end of the first day, which did not change in the next four rounds. The last two rounds on the last competition day turned out to be quite dramatic for the two contenders for the 10th place. HF Flying Circus lost the whole 4-point lead in Round 9, and Round 10 would be an internal tie-breaker.

The Czech team recovered impressively well, and it became a 1-point finish, with the advantage for HF Flying Circus.

The competition at Weembi Lille will not be the last time that HF Flying Circus and Pro Team will meet each other.

Both teams have plans until the next outdoor world meet in Tanay 2020, and they will probably measure up several times until then, directly and indirectly. Czech Republic and Finland both participate in the World Tunnel League events and are a part of the NSL outdoor network, as well.
