Did You Know...

... that Mon-AK had the most interesting lineup at the French 8-way indoor championship?

Awards at the French 8-way Indoor Nationals 2019
posted May 7th, 2019 - Fourteen 8-way teams continued the 8-way momentum that former 8-way world champions Julien Degen, Bruno Perin and Thomas Perrin-Gachadoat have created together at their wind tunnel, Weembi Lille.

The host of the recent FAI Indoor World Meet followed up with the French 8-way Indoor Nationals, while the first British 4-way teams braved the winter temperatures at the season opener of the United Kingdom Skydiving League.

The three Weembi Lille operators were joined by Clementine Le Bohec, Martial Ferré, Brian Krause, Aurelien Lemaire, and Michele Silvi for a very colorful 8-way lineup that won the competition over the Weembi Girls. The all-female team was the reigning French 8-way indoor champion and defended the title successfully, as the international Weembi Weembi team was not eligible for the official French national championship.

New 8-way world record holder Martial Ferre was also guiding his international Veloce QRF lineup once again to a new team record average, while he could neither win a French 8-way medal with his second international lineup. Veloce QRF still managed to tie one of the highscores in Round 4 on the road to the new team record average.

Mon Ak 8-way team at the French Indoor Nationals
Mon-AK 8-way lineup
The NSL News will follow up with the 8-way competition videos of the top teams soon. However, there was another 8-way team that caught the attention just as much as the world class 8-way scores.

Mon-AK had probably the most interesting and unique lineup. The team name is playing with a combination of two different names. The first part relates to the Monaco indoor and outdoor skydiving team that the NSL News has covered for many years and at many different 4-way and 8-way competitions.

The second part of the name relates to the Aerokart Ak'demie 4-way junior project, and both 4-way teams joined forces to create a unique combination of 4-way seniors and juniors for the 8-way competition at Weembi Lille.

Mon-AK was one of the eight teams who were on the official French 8-way leaderboard, while additional six teams had a guest status on the open leaderboard. The Aerokart Ak'demie junior team had competed for the French delegation at the recent indoor world meet and won the silver medals. The three senior members (Stephane Mattoni, Jeff Ronzevalle, Franck Vazille) competed for Monaco at the same event. Monaco Indoor Skydive Team - Aerokart Ak'demie at the FAI Indoor World Meet

With Kylian Forsans: Monaco Indoor Skydive Team at the FAI Indoor World Meet
It was not the complete combination of Aerokart Ak'demie and Monaco at last weekend's 8-way competition at Weembi Lille. This time, it was a unique family affair at the same time, as father Stephane Mattoni had son Tom Mattoni by his 8-way side, and father Franck Vazille had his son Valentin in the lineup, as well.

Tom Mattoni's three junior team mates (Cameron Malie, Eliot and Oscar Massier) were invited for the 8-way competition, as well, and Valentin Vazille is not in the same lineup. One Monaco senior member had to step back to allow room for the 5th 4-way junior and family member in the Mon-AK 8-way lineup.

It was former French Aerokart Ak'demie 4-way junior Kylian Forsans who did not compete in 8-way. He was in the second Ak'demie lineup until the French Indoor Nationals 2017, where the current Ak'demie team won and became the French national 4-way Junior team.

Kylian Forsans was then recruited by the Monaco team for indoor training and competition, and the team's plans include him for future outdoor competition, as well. However, one of the current Aerokart Ak'demie 4-way juniors took his indoor slot with the three Monaco members in the center of the 8-way formations, as the competition videos are showing...
