Did You Know...

... that Jessica Haugaard and Morgan Womble focus on the indoor/outdoor bridge at Paraclete XP?

Paraclete XP's ICL team in May
posted Jun 5th, 2019 - Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League team followed up quickly with the May scores after the newest numbers of the Hurricane Factory were posted, and the 14+ leaderboard is still not complete yet.

ICL organizer Jessica Haugaard had only one world champion available this time, Jennifer Davidson of the Golden Knights 8-way team. The Paraclete XP Summer Classic is coming up very soon, and the top teams and competitors focus naturally more on outdoor training and competition at this time of the year.

Jessica Haugaard and Morgan Womble have also made the recruitment of new participants a high priority. They plan to train them at the tunnel camps and the Indoor Cloud League events and then apply the new skills in freefall, as well. Jessica Haugaard said that their Project XP is gaining momentum:

"Project XP is a skydiving project designed to train newer skydivers in 4-way competition. Project XP is slowly building, as we focus on those who want to expand on 4-way knowledge gained in the tunnel by allowing them to take it out of a plane with free local coaching."

Paraclete XP's coaches: Jen Davidson - Terry Seaworth - Jessica Haugaard - Chris Webb
Each month, the group of Indoor Cloud League participants at Paraclete XP includes several new 4-way fliers, who are introduced to the event by a group of local coaches. Jen Davidson, Jessica Haugaard, Terry Seaworth and Chris Webb were working with the participants at the May event before they also performed the two Open Class sequences together (AAA - AA) for the May leaderboard.

The focus on recruiting new participants and introducing them to 4-way training and competition makes it difficult for the Paraclete XP team to keep up with the Czech teams at the Hurricane Factory. Jan Klapka, Indoor Cloud League organizer in the Czech Republic, is consistently recruiting 4-way juniors who start with training as soon as they are ready.

Result is a large group of trained teams who are scoring regularly on the Indoor Cloud League leaderboards, and there are not many pick-up teams at all competing for the Hurricane Factory.

Eleven Czech teams competed for the highscores in the six categories in May, and three of them have lineups with only 4-way juniors.

Project XP indoor/outdoor bridge: XP Summer Classic coming soon
It makes complete sense that Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League events are the part of a bigger 4-way picture. It is much more efficient to introduce the basics of 4-way training and competition in a wind tunnel.

Paraclete XP also own and operate the Skydive Paraclete XP drop zone in Raeford. The transition from wind tunnel to drop zone and vice versa is a part of the plan, and it works well in both directions. Project XP now adds a structured plan for the transition from indoor to outdoor 4-way.

The wind tunnel is needed anyway and serves for different purposes in the other direction. Teams and competitors will always go back to the flying chamber to practice their individual skills and special techniques. Paraclete XP's 16-foot flying chamber is also always a perfect alternative if the weather does not cooperate during an outdoor training camp.

It is probably not a big surprise that Jessica Haugaard and Morgan Womble are not short of new participants who would like to use the bridge that they are building between indoor and outdoor training and competition at Paraclete XP...
