posted Jun 6th, 2019 - The NSL News posted a preview of the Italian Indoor Nationals on May 31st and followed up with the scores last weekend. The story explained that both top contenders, Amnesya and ex3MO, would compete with new and different lineups.

The breaking HayaBusa news on June 3rd were directly related to the update from Italy, as former Amnesya member Michele Silvi joined the Belgian 4-way world champions to take an active slot after the world meet in Tanay 2020.

The preview mentioned that Amnesya could not defend the FAI bronze medals at Weembi Lille in March that they had won at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 in Bahrain. Amnesya had to replace Michele Silvi and Mario Fatturoso and were not eligible to represent Italy with the new lineup at the FAI Indoor World Meet.

New Amnesya members Livio Piccolo and Ivan Quadrio had their first opportunity to compete together with Chiara Brunetti and Giuseppe Cossu at the national indoor championships last weekend, and they launched the new Amnesya FlyX era in a very impressive way.

Last weekend's 27.7 average with the new Amnesya lineup was only three points short of the 28.0 average that had won the bronze medals for Italy in Bahrain in October last year.

Ex3MO could not even get close after their own personnel changes. In fact, Italy's former indoor and outdoor champions were challenged from behind. Ketchup ADV finished only seven points behind ex3MO in 3rd place at the team's first AAA Class competition.

It could be expected that Amnesya would come back with a strong performance, as Livio Piccolo and Ivan Quadrio are both highly experienced 4-way competitors. However, the starting point is probably even more promising compared to what the new lineup had in mind.

Ivan Quadrio was introduced as a new Amnesya member with the NSL News update that covered his job with the 4-way team from Oman. He was in the first ex3MO lineup when the team switched from 8-way to 4-way competition. He had been in ex3MO's 8-way team since 2006, which was the year when his new team mate Livio Piccolo won FAI outdoor bronze medals for Italy with Sinapsi PD at the FAI World Meet 2006 in Germany.

Each current member of the new Amnesya lineup has won an FAI bronze medal. Livio Piccolo started in 2006, and Ivan Quadrio followed up two years later with 8-way bronze for Italy in Maubeuge 2008. Chiara Brunetti and Giuseppe Cossu then added their own 4-way indoor bronze medals ten years later in Bahrain 2018.

The new Amnesya lineup is a collection of the most successful Italian competitors, which may explain the impressive start at the national indoor championships.

There was no indoor competition when Livio Piccolo trained and competed with Sinapsi PD. In fact, the World Challenge was just launched for the first time in April 2006, a few months before the outdoor world meet in Germany. Sinapsi PD had previously defeated DeLand Fire at the Shamrock Showdown 2006, who would become the new 4-way world champions five months later.

Livio Piccolo has remained very active in the sport ever since and has picked up the pace with indoor training and competition in the past years. The new Amnesya lineup can now dig into at a wealth of competition experiences, and the team will also be very strong in 4-way outdoor competition...
