... that the latest NSL News Live Talk with R2G took place at the team's favorite place?

Ranch 2nd Generation at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2016: Brenn Richards - Chris Kuhlmann - Joey Marshall - Michelle Karamon
posted Jun 18th, 2019 - The aftermath of the Paraclete XP Summer Classic continues with the video of another NSL News Live Talk that was recorded at the end of the first day on Saturday. Seven rounds were completed, and there was enough time for a conversation with Ranch 2nd Generation.

The NSL News has been following the team regularly since meeting the second lineup (Michelle Karamon, Brenn Richards, Christopher Kuhlmann, Joey Marshall) at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2016 with the first NSL Live Talk conversation.

The performance and progression at that time was already convincing enough to call the team the 4-way shooting star in the United States, even though R2G was still competing in the AA Class at Paraclete in March 2016. Three years later, three current members (Michelle Karamon, Christopher Kuhlmann, Jeana Billings) are training and competing with Paraclete XP8 as the top favorite for the 8-way outdoor title at the USPA Nationals 2019.

Michelle Karamon and Jeana Billings were in the XP8 lineup at the FAI Indoor World Meet and won FAI gold medals with a record average of 31.6 at Weembi Lille. Christopher Kuhlmann was recently selected for the XP8 lineup when JaNette Lefkowitz decided to discontinue. Joey Marshall is probably the top candidate for the next XP8 slot opening up.

Ranch 2nd Generation at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2016: Joey Marshall - Jeana Billings - Michelle Karamon - Chris Kuhlmann
The NSL News update on June 5th included the most recent look at the situation of Ranch 2nd Generation this year. The story covered Airspeed Odyssey's 2019 reunion and 15-year anniversary at the FAI World Cup in October this year. It was posted shortly after the announcement of Christopher Kuhlmann as the new XP8 member.

The Odyssey update explained that the complete Airspeed lineup of 2005 will not attend the USPA Nationals but compete later with the U.S. delegation at the FAI World Cup in Eloy. Ranch 2nd Generation does not have one of the four slots for 4-way teams in the U.S. delegation (Arizona Airspeed - SDC Rhythm XP - Airspeed Odyssey - Defiance).

Instead, R2G will be engaged in the battle for bronze medals at the USPA Nationals in the absence of Airspeed Odyssey. Defiance is in the middle of the preparations for the event, with more training than usual this year.

Last weekend's competition in Raeford brought the Golden Knights back into the 4-way picture, as well. Golden Knights have won the USPA bronze medals consecutively between 2014 and 2017, with Jennifer Davidson in each of the lineups.

8-way gold medals at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
The 4-way bronze medal streak of the Golden Knights was only stopped when the complete U.S. Army delegation at the USPA Nationals 2018 was called back to North Carolina due to the threatening Hurricane Florence approaching their headquarters.

Last weekend, the Golden Knights were back in 4-way with a strong lineup, once again with Jennifer Davidson, and won 28 points ahead of Ranch 2nd Generation. The same Golden Knights lineup would obviously be the top contender for USPA bronze medals this year.

However, it will not be the same lineup back in Raeford in September. Matt Davidson will compete for Arizona Airspeed, and Jesse Stahler will probably go back to his 4-way VFS team. Jen Davidson and Drew Starr would have to recruit two new members for the USPA Nationals.

Team captain Drew Starr could also decide to focus only on 8-way competition this year, as he can expect an extremely challenging situation with Paraclete XP8 as a well trained opponent and defending champion.

Without Airspeed Odyssey and Golden Knights competing at the USPA Nationals, the battle for bronze medals would be fought between Defiance and Ranch 2nd Generation. Ranch 2nd Generation are not ready yet for this battle, as the 18.4 average in Raeford is indicating. Michelle Karamon, Jena Billings and Chris Kuhlmann are also in a similar situation as the Golden Knights, with the focus on 8-way training and competition. The NSL Live Talk with R2G took place at the team's favorite place - in a Twin Otter...
