Did You Know...

... that Out of the Blue and HF Flying Circus share an outdoor leaderboard for the first time?

Out of the Blue and HF Flying Circus at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
posted Jul 6th, 2019 - It was only a few days ago when the NSL News update included a leaderboard with two national teams, Pro Team from Finland and CTR Optimum from Brazil, who had never posted scores at the same event. It was the June indoor competition of the World Tunnel League that had brought the two teams together on the same leaderboard for the first time.

By coincidence, a very similar situation is happening this weekend, at two different outdoor events this time, the July meet of the Czech Skydiving League and the annual Tomscat Trophy in the Netherlands.

There are once again two national teams who are posting their scores on the same leaderboard, HF Flying Circus from the Czech Republic and Out of the Blue from the Netherlands. It is not the first time that these two teams can compare their scoring numbers directly, as they have met each other at previous indoor events. However, it is the first time that both teams are exiting from jump planes to perform the same sequences.

In fact, HF Flying Circus and Out of the Blue have attended four indoor events together since November 2017, last time the FAI Indoor World Meet at Weembi Lille, and the Czech national team has won every single one. It was a close finish most of the times.

Jump plane for the competition in Most
The two different events in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands this weekend have a different outcome at the first indirect outdoor duel between Out of the Blue and HF Flying Circus, at least after five rounds. The Dutch team has won four of the five rounds and is seven points ahead after Round 5.

The Czech teams have completed all ten rounds in Most, while the Dutch teams are waiting for better weather at the Tomscat Trophy in Hoogeveen.

HF Flying Circus is once again dealing with a challenging exit situation. The NSL News reported on May 27th that the Czech teams exited from an Antonov AN-2 at the previous outdoor competition.

This weekend's competition in Most offered a significantly improved exit situation compared to the May meet.

However, even though the PAC 750XL in Most is much better suited for a skydiving operation, it is still not ideal for 4-way exits, while the teams at the Tomscat Trophy have a Grand Caravan available for the competition.

Ten rounds completed in the Czech Republic
The Czech leaderboard is showing how HF Flying Circus and videographer Vaclav Prokes, former inside center of the Bad Boys, struggled with the exit in the first two rounds and gave up three points at the beginning of the working time.

Eventually, they found a way to exit the PAC and keep the first formation of each sequence in frame. They had to use a standard exit formation before presenting the start of the sequence, which is a time-consuming procedure, and they still finished with the team's first 15+ average.

HF Flying Circus and Out of the Blue seem to be very close to each other at outdoor competition, as well, and the Dutch team has taken the lead with the first 16+ average. The opportunity for the first direct outdoor confrontation at the same place and the same time is coming up at this year's ESL Championship in September at Skydive Spa in Belgium.

The Dutch and Belgian teams at the Tomscat Trophy will try to complete the meet on Sunday, and the British teams are in action too this weekend, at the July meet of the United Kingdom Skydiving League. The scores will be added as soon as possible.
