... that Out of the Blue continue on their own budget?

Out of the Blue versus HF Flying Circus since 2017
posted Jul 26th, 2019 - The NSL News had pointed out the athletic relationship between the national 4-way Open Class teams from the Czech Republic (HF Flying Circus) and the Netherlands (Out of the Blue) in the middle of the Tomscat Trophy on July 6th. HF Flying Circus had completed their ten rounds on the same weekend with a new team record average, while Out of the Blue were on the way to to do the same in Hoogeveen after Round 5.

The story on July 8th followed up with more details and a brief explanation how both teams came to the same point in time in very different ways. HF Flying Circus had the same lineup in the same three years that Out of the Blue used to find the right combination with three different lineups.

The results were the same for both teams, as they posted their highest meet averages last month.

Out of the Blue finished ahead of HF Flying Circus on the combined leaderboard of both events that they shared for the first time at an outdoor competition. They had met each other earlier this year at the FAI Indoor World Meet, where HF Flying Circus had the upper hand.

Out of the Blue progression since 2017
Out of the Blue's first year, the 2017 season, was also the time when HF Flying Circus stepped up from AA Class competition into the AAA/4-way Open Class world.

Out of the Blue started with a mixture of experienced 4-way competitors (Mechie Voermans, Leon van Leeuwen), who had competed at FAI events before, and new talent (Mandy Feijen, Danny Dorfel).

The first Out of the Blue lineup was a part of the Dutch 20+ Project, which supported the participating teams financially, as well.

HF Flying Circus started the AAA Class journey on a significantly lower level and have moved closer every year, even though Out of the Blue have consistently increased their own performance level.

HF Flying Circus have collected a lot of indoor meet experiences in the Czech World Tunnel League meets at the Hurricane Factory. It was no big surprise that the Czech team was even ahead of the Dutch team at Weembi Lille in April.

The charts are only showing the outdoor results in the three years that the teams have had together.

Out of the Blue at the Tomscat Trophy 2019
Out of the Blue were happy with the first outdoor scores of the year at the Tomscat Trophy. The team had completed 85 training jumps after the conclusion of the indoor season at Weembi Lille.

Team member Mandy Feijen said that there is still so much room for improvements, especially with exits, even though her team "managed pretty well at the competition". Exits and sub-terminal pages are naturally the most challenging parts of 4-way training and competition, especially during the transition from the indoor to the outdoor season. NMP PCH HayaBusa member Dennis Praet has been working with the Dutch team.

The financial support by the Dutch 20+ Project has faded, and the Dutch skydiving federation does not support the national team either. However, Out of the Blue is determined to continue, even though the smaller budget requires tough choices, and the Dutch team will not be able to compete at the FAI World Cup this year, not even at the ESL Championship in Belgium.

Goal is winning the Dutch Nationals again at the end of August and make more training jumps in 2019/2020, with the FAI Mondial 2020 in Tanay as the main goal. Out of the Blue plan for 180 - 200 training jumps this year. The world meet in 2020 might be the first time when Out of the Blue and HF Flying Circus meet at an outdoor competition...
