Did You Know...

... that the Swedish C4 - Aurora duel began in 2015?

A Class champion of 2013: Team C4
posted Jul 26th, 2019 - NSL-TV follows up with the videos of the Swedish Outdoor Nationals. Echochamber member Mattias Nord mentioned during the NSL Live Talk with Joey Jones on July 24th that his team's meet videos would not offer breaking news, after little training before the competition and a long break after Johan Edvall's knee surgery at the beginning of June.

Echochamber is still one of the best 4-way teams in the world, after the 5th place at the FAI World Meet 2018 and the 7th place at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019.

The Echochamber videos confirm Mattias Nord's and Joey Jones' commentary. They had pointed out that the team struggled mostly with the exits.

The same Echochamber lineup had posted three 21+ outdoor averages last year and peaked at the world meet in Australia with a new team record average (21.5) and the highest result in Swedish 4-way history. Echochamber will soon be back on the same performance level, and it would be no big surprise if the Swedish team posts the next outdoor scores on the 22+ level at the FAI World Cup at Skydive Arizona in October.

The highlight of the Swedish outdoor nationals was the battle for the 2nd place between Aurora and Team C4.

Aurora finished with a new team record average (14.8) while Team C4 missed last year's 14.8 at the Swedish Nationals by four points. Team C4 had also posted a 15.3 average after the six rounds of the national outdoor championships in 2017.

Aurora and Team C4 have battled in Sweden since 2015. Team C4 started in the A Class of 2013 and won the gold medals (9.0) in this category at the national championships. They came back in the AA Class next year (10.6) and had no Swedish competition. Then they entered the AAA Class competition in 2015 and met Aurora for the first time at the national outdoor championships. It was Aurora's first appearance on a 4-way leaderboard, and the new team won after a similar battle by two points (105 - 103).

It was even closer when both teams met again at the first indoor nationals in February 2016, and Team C4 won by one point (150 - 149) this time. However, Aurora was back as the stronger outdoor team the same year and won the same duel on a higher outdoor performance level (118 - 104).

The same duel began once again at the indoor meet of the 2017 season, and Team C4 pulled away (190 - 167) this time. The 19.0 average was rewarded with the first set of national medals for the 3rd place behind Echochamber and Team X. Team C4 confirmed the upper hand in the duel with Aurora at the outdoor nationals and turned bronze into Swedish silver.

Team C4 and Aurora both then collected their first international 4-way experiences at the FAI World Cup 2017, and Team C4 confirmed the internal Swedish power situation (54 - 48) after the four rounds in Saarlouis.

The outcome of the same duel was the same at the national outdoor championships in 2018 (148 - 144) and at the indoor nationals in February this year (205 - 188).

Team C4 had not lost a meet against Aurora since the outdoor nationals in 2016, and the results this week were a surprise, even though C4 coach Joey Jones knew that Aurora was close enough to create an upset. This time, it was Aurora turning their outdoor bronze medals of 2016 into Swedish silver earlier this week...
