Did You Know...

... that four Polish teams battled first time on the same AA leaderboard?

Flyspot Sky4four at the World Challenge 2019
posted Aug 16th, 2019 - It's been a few years since national teams from Poland competed at FAI outdoor world meets or world cups. No Mercy represented Poland in 4-way Women at the FAI World Meet 2016 at Skydive Chicago, and a year later at the FAI World Cup 2017 in Saarlouis, together with 4-way Open Class team Flyspot Sky4four in 4-way Open.

However, Polish teams have been consistent visitors at the major indoor events since the Flyspot wind tunnels opened their doors in the European country east of Germany.

Flyspot Sky4four competed in the 4-way Open Class at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 in Bahrain, and they were back on the FAI leaderboard at the Indoor World Meet 2019 at Weembi Lille, once again together with No Mercy in 4-way Women.

In the meantime, they are in competition practice with several other Polish teams and visitors from the European region at their Flyspot Liga meets on home turf. Flyspot Sky4four and two other Polish teams (Flyspot Omega, MAD Team) also visited Bedford this April for the World Challenge 2019. For the first time in Formation Skydiving history, Poland also had a team on the 8-way leaderboard at Weembi Lille, the all-female Why Not? lineup.

World Challenge and FAI Indoor World Meet concluded the unofficial international indoor competition season, while the next Flyspot Liga event followed just a month later in May. Flyspot Sky4four and No Mercy were back on the AAA Class leaderboard for the next six meet rounds, and they had company from Lithuania.

Magic 4 had a comeback at the FAI Indoor World Meet in April, after a 3-year break on any NSL leaderboards. The Lithuanian team could not complete the ten rounds at Weembi Lille, where they had battled with the Skydive University team from Slovakia at the bottom of the 4-way Open Class leaderboard.

They visited Flyspot Warsaw in Poland a month later for the 6-round meet and beat their 8-round average at Weembi Lille, while Flyspot Sky4four and No Mercy finished below their previous scoring numbers.

Flyspot One2Three won the AA Class competition easily in the team's 4th meet on the AA Class leaderboard, including a successful visit at the Hurricane Factory for the January meet of the World Tunnel League. Flyspot One2Three has been undefeated in their four AA Class meets since entering this category in September 2018.

AA Class winner Flyspot One2three with coach Zbigniew Kordzikowski
There was a good AA Class battle going on behind Flyspot One2Three. Flyspot Omega had moved up into the AA Class at the Flyspot March meet and then placed 4th in the same category at the World Challenge 2019. The 19.5 average in May on home turf was a new team record, which they needed to fend off the two other Polish AA Class teams.

Ladies Power and MAD Team both entered the AA Class competition for the first time in May and finished only shortly behind Flyspot Omega.

They had started together in the Rookie Class of 2017 and moved up into the A Class together a year later, Ladies Power a few months earlier. They shared several of the A Class leaderboards with Flyspot One2Three and Flyspot Omega before these two teams entered the AA Class competition.

The Flyspot May meet this year was the first time that all four teams shared a AA Class leaderboard. Flyspot Omega, Ladies Power and MAD Team have finished in all possible ranking positions between each other in their 4-way past, and it could be different again at the next meet...
