posted Aug 26th, 2019 - The second day of the UK Nationals 2019 was just as exciting as the NSL News story on August 24th expected it to be. Chimera eventually took the silver medal position away from Eros by two points and outscored NFTO by the total of the last four rounds.

The UK Nationals over-shadowed the national outdoor championship in Italy that took place at the same time in Fano. The annual duel for the top spot between Amnesya and eX3MO had the same outcome as in 2018. Amnesya defended the 4-way outdoor title successfully and won the second set of Italian gold medals.

eX3MO was the Italian 4-way champion for seven consecutive years (2011 - 2017) before Amnesya took over in the team's third year of AAA Class competition. It was a 1-point battle in 2017 when eX3MO won the last time, and the difference was four points to the advantage of Amnesya last year. Last weekend, Amnesya won by 12 points (197 - 185).

Amnesya had the better start and was six points ahead before a devastating Round 6 for eX3MO, which increased the difference by six points. eX3MO recovered very well and tied the scores for the remaining four rounds, while the top spot was now out of reach.

Both teams had different lineups this year. The NSL News introduced the new Amnesya lineup on June 6th, after winning the Italian Indoor Nationals. The lineup changed again when Giuseppe Cossu could not commit for the outdoor nationals. Alessandro Anderlucci filled the slot, and the new lineup now added the next outdoor title to the collection.

eX3MO's personnel situation was even more challenging. Team founder Placido Udine had to take a break due to an eye surgery and missed the indoor nationals.

Marco Arrigo was not available for any eX3MO meets this year. Only Federico Angelotti and Stefano Rossi were back from the 2018 season, together with long-time ex3MO member Fabio Lorenzetti.

Former Sei Uno Zero (6.1.0.) member Alessandro Anderlucci filled the open slot for Placido Udine at the indoor nationals, who was preparing for his comeback after the eye surgery, and now he won the outdoor title with Amnesya.

Federico Angelotti, Fabio Lorenzetti, Stefano Rossi and Placido Udine eventually competed together for the first time with this lineup at the outdoor nationals, with Massimo Fiorini on camera.

eX3MO is still in a better situation than Amnesya when it comes to potential plans for participation at the FAI Outdoor World Cup in October. The national championship of 2018 define the national team that will be sanctioned by the Italian skydiving federation for the FAI event.

The Italian rules allow one change in the lineup, and eX3MO has four members who competed for the team in 2018 and last week. Fabio Lorenzetti could replace Marco Arrigo, and eX3MO's 2019 lineup would be eligible to compete for Italy.

Amnesya would have liked to compete in Eloy, but the team does not match the Italian qualification rules. Chiara Brunetti, Mario Fatturoso, Luca Marchioro and Michele Silvi won the national championship last year, and only Chiara Brunetti is back with the 2019 lineup. Original member Giuseppe Cossu had missed last year's event due to a dislocated shoulder and missed again last week.

Amnesya will not compete for Italy at the world cup, and eX3MO still has to decide whether they will take the open slot or not.
