The team's evaluation of the event began right after the completion and continued after returning to Sweden. Echochamber's team speaker Ulf Liljenbäck recently followed up with an official summary of the competition from the team's perspective:
"It's been a couple of weeks since we came back from Arizona and the World Cup. I've been thinking a lot about how to start this after competition report and what I first came up with stands: Echochamber are exactly where we should be in our pursuit for a FAI medal in Tanay 2020."
"Well, that was easy to write. True as well. How come it took two weeks to actually write those words then? We do feel that we underperformed and have done so on every competition 2019 except for Wind Games in late January, and that kind of sucks. That in turn is closely connected to the big change we did after the World Meet in Australia last year regarding techniques and mindset. It takes time to do changes, and frustrating as it is, we took a step back this year."
"In rounds five to eight we did ok, but we were not jumping for winning but rather like being afraid of losing. That became even worse, and painfully, in Round 9 scoring a 23 in a jump where we obviously should have scored a 29 or at least a 26."
"We finished strongly, which feels good, and we have done quite a lot of thinking how to proceed. The detailed plan is not set, butit is decided that we are dedicating the whole indoor season to outdoor training with rigs on when training at Bodyflight. We will go outdoor as soon as possible and are planning to jump a lot."
"By doing so, we have a realistic chance to be much faster, make fewer mistakes then, and giving all the fantastic competitors in so many teams a run for a bronze medal in Tanay. The NSL News published another evaluation and summery where you also can find all our jumps. Thank you all for standing by us on this journey."
Martin Bäcklin used to be a full member for indoor and outdoor training and competition, while Mattias Nord was the external coach. This format changed at the end of the 2017 season, when Martin Bäcklin committed only to the next indoor season. Mattias Nord then stepped into the active lineup as the inside center with the beginning of the 2018 outdoor season. This lineup finished in 5th place at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018 with the 21.5 record average.
Echochamber with Mattias Nord then repeated the 5th place finish at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 before Martin Bäcklin came back for the 2018/2019 indoor season and three indoor meets.
Indoor and outdoor training and competition both with the same lineup will most likely make Echochamber significantly stronger and comes at the right time. The Swedish team has to re-load with confidence and strength. Ulf Liljenbäck said it, and the team knows it: There will be very strong competition for the next FAI bronze medals...
