Did You Know...

... that Kinetix has competed more than any other Australian team before?

Airtite at the FAI World Meet 2008
posted Nov 8th, 2019 - 2019 has been a very busy competition year for the Australian team Kinetix. It began with the national outdoor championship in March that the team won for the first time. Rotor Out, Australia's national 4-way champions of the last decade and the country's national team at the last five world meets discontinued after the FAI World Meet 2018, and the 4-way door was open for a new team.

Simon Disassico, who is a former Rotor Out member, and who also competed with Australia's previous national 4-way team Airtite, moved on with Kinetix, together with two other former Rotor Out members, Richard Strickland and videographer Patrik Nygren. Russ Blackman and AnnMarie Jarzebowski completed the lineup.

Rotor Out's last lineup and Kinetix had met each other once at the national championship in 2018, where Rotor Out won (17.9 - 16.8) to retire undefeated at home after ten years.

Kinetix did not slow down at all and actually picked up the pace of training and competition. No other Australian team has attended five competitions within a year, as Kinetix did in the 2019 indoor and outdoor season.

Rotor Out at the FAI World Meet 2018
The busiest time of the year was probably also the most exciting one for Kinetix. The new team had decided to spend a lot of time with training and competition in the United States in 2019, after winning the national outdoor (March) and indoor (August) championships.

The competition journey in the United States began with the USPA Nationals at Skydive Paraclete XP in North Carolina. Kinetix competed together with the 4-way world champions from Belgium as guest teams and witnessed the 4-way Open Class drama between Arizona Airspeed and SDC Rhythm XP that produced a new U.S. national 4-way team.

Kinetix will meet SDC Rhythm XP at the next world meet in Russia 2020, where NMP PCH HayaBusa will try to win their 4th consecutive gold medals. They also witnessed the new 4-way outdoor record average that HayaBusa posted in Raeford.

It was a great start for Kinetix, too, as the Aussies posted their own new record average (18.2) at the same event. They skipped the 17+ level and lifted the previous 16.8 to the 18.2 at the USPA Nationals.

Then they traveled across the United States to the west coast and the hosting site of the FAI Outdoor World Cup, Skydive Arizona. There they trained with coach Niklas Hemlin, who was preparing his own team for the re-match with SDC Rhythm XP at the same time.

The September meet of the Arizona Skydiving League happened to take place in Eloy while Kinetix was training, and they used the six rounds for additional competition practice. It became an opportunity to train more technically challenging sequences, with 13 blocks in the six meet jumps.

The following ten rounds at the world cup did not allow most of the participating teams to post new record numbers. However, Kinetix finished only five points behind their own highest team average and posted the missing 17+ average that they had skipped at the USPA Nationals.

19.3 is the highest Australian meet average, posted by Rotor Out after the nine rounds in Dubai 2012, and the highest 10-round average was Rotor Out's 17.9 when both teams met in March 2018. Kinetix has passed the 10-round number with the 18.2 in Raeford and is probably aiming at a new number that begins with a 20...
