Did You Know...

... that Ben Liston is getting ready for his next indoor meet at SkyVenture New Hampshire?

First indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire in 2008
posted Nov 26th, 2019 - One of the most comprehensively NSL News covered events is the annual indoor competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire, and Ben Liston has scheduled the next one for January 25th, 2020.

Ben Liston is one of the original Mass Defiance members and received the Skydiver of the Year award for his never-ending efforts to advance Formation Skydiving competition.

He also won his first USPA bronze medal in 4-way Open at this year's USPA Nationals, 14 years after the Advanced Class gold medal with Mass Defiance in 2005.

He organized his first wind tunnel competition at SkyVenture New Hampshire in 2008 and added competition categories, prizes and entertainment to the event year by year.

A total of 41 teams eventually showed up at the last event in January 2019, and Ranch 2nd Generation won the AAA Class competition.

It was R2G's first meet with the new lineup. Jeana Billings had taken the tail slot for Chris Haslam, and the team's 25.8 record average was a great start into the new competition season. The NSL News reported recently how all R2G team members were selected for Airspeed XP8's and Arizona Airspeed's new lineups.

Ranch 2nd Generation at SkyVenture New Hampshire in 2016
Ranch 2nd Generation have not missed the SkyVenture New Hampshire competition since January 2016. However, the current situation of all four team members makes it questionable whether they will be able to defend their AAA Class title or not.

Ben Liston recently posted the logistics of that event. His 2020 event at SkyVenture New Hampshire will be completed once again after ten rounds on one day, beginning at 8:30 am and finishing at roughly 7:00 pm. Awards ceremony and party with live music will take place poolside at the Oasis Cafe right after Round 10. He said that light appetizers will be served on the house, and the Oasis Cafe will have beer, wine and cocktails for purchase.

The 10-round competition costs $100 per person, and participants have the opportunity to sign up with a second lineup for additional $70 and ten more rounds. The registration fee covers two warm-up flights of one minute each, the competition rounds, judging, meet coaching by Eliana Rodriguez, complete team pages and meet videos on the NSL website, a meet shirt for early registration, water, and pizza for lunch.

Ben Liston reminded teams and competitors to register early, as the number of teams is limited to 48: "First come first serve. Register by Sunday, December 23rd to receive the free shirt. We filled up two years ago, so register early - registration will likely fill prior to the deadline. Email to nhtunnelmeet"at"gmail"dot"com with: team name, team members, each person's shirt size (standard men's or women's cut), your competition class, and every team member's e-mail address."

Event coach Eliana Rodriguez at SkyVenture New Hampshire in January 2019
Eliana Rodriquez will be returning for the upcoming event as the event coach and provide free coaching for all teams on the day of the meet. The 4-way Women/4-way Open/8-way world champion recently won another FAI medal with Airspeed Odyssey at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019, and she is managing the Arizona Skydiving League together with Airspeed XP8 member Michelle Karamon.

Ben Liston said that Eliana Rodriguez also offers team coaching at SkyVenture New Hampshire prior to the competition on on Thursday, January 23rd and Friday January 24th. She will be available using a format that includes 45 minutes of preparation, followed by 15 minutes of flying time during a 30-minute block, followed by 45 minutes of debriefing. The cost for this 2-hour coaching session prior to the competition is $90 per person or $360 per team. Teams can book specific coaching sessions through a payment portal.

Potential team mates can be found by entering personal information into the "Team Mate Finder". Ben Liston added that there is also the option to add a player-coach to a team's lineup: "There are a few top-notch Open Class/professional folks coming who are available to be hired as player-coaches. Contact me if if you are interested in more information."

Original Mass Defiance member and highly experienced FAI Judge Jim Rees is once again heading the judging panel. Last and not least, Ben Liston encourages participants to take full advantage of all meet facilities: "Bring your climbing shoes and bathing suit, the climbing wall and Surf's Up with the 32 feet wide surfing wave will be open, too. The Post Party will be held at the Radisson of Nashua Hotel bar...
