Did You Know...

... that Paraclete XP and iFLY Dallas focus more on the 4-way grass-root level?

Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League November lineup
posted Dec 10th, 2019 - It becomes more and more challenging for any Indoor Cloud League teams to offer the Hurricane Factory in the Czech Republic serious opposition on the special leaderboard with the six monthly sequences.

The never-ending flow of Czech 4-way juniors into Jan Klapka's 4-way indoor project has been creating Rookie Class teams who learn quickly with regular training. They are posting reliable top scores for the two Rookie Class categories with capped scoring limits (RR - R) until they have to move up. At that point, they are skilled enough to follow up with competitive scores in the next categories without scoring limitations (RRR - A).

Jan Klapka and his assistant coaches even hardly ever use the player-coaching options for the two Rookie Class categories, where two experienced 4-way competitors may guide the new 4-way participants through their first experiences with the dive pool. The rules also allow one player-coach in the RRR and A lineups.

The Czech 4-way juniors start with individual skills training and are then assigned to lineups with other juniors. It is an exception when juniors and seniors mix up in any of the lineups. Jan Klapka's 4-way Junior project at the Hurricane Factory has now advanced to the point where the former juniors have become seasoned 4-way indoor competitors and are posting top scores for the AAA and AA sequences, as well. The HF Cubs are the leading example for this progression.

Paraclete XP's Indoor Cloud League team became the first serious opponent for the Hurricane Factory after the start of the 4-way Junior project, which had moved the Czech team to the top of the 14+ leaderboard year by year. Paraclete XP, with the only 16-foot flying chamber of the participating wind tunnels, took away the 2nd place of seven ICL teams from iFLY Seattle in the first year, the 2017 season. The Hurricane Factory was in reach after Paraclete XP's first 12 months of ICL competition (1529 - 1427).

Paraclete XP's second year of Indoor Cloud League competition in 2018 made it a serious competition month by month, and the total number of points after the December competition was as close as it could be after any 10-round competition thriller (1461 - 1459). iFLY Seattle and iFLY Tampa had a simliar battle for the 3rd place (1262 - 1257).

This year's scores at the end of the year will not be as close on the top of the leaderboard, after Paraclete XP lost a whole month prior to the USPA Nationals at Skydive Paraclete XP, while the Czech Juniors produced the usual scoring numbers at the Hurricane Factory, with HF Flying Circus and HF Cubs taking care of the Open Class sequences (AAA - AA).

At the same time, Paraclete XP, as well as iFLY Dallas have been focusing on using Indoor Cloud League events and indoor training to attract new fliers to 4-way competition and train them beginning at the grass-root level.

The top competitors at Paraclete XP, who have provided their knowledge and experiences for the ICL events in the past, are also very busy preparing with the Airspeed XP8 team for the very challenging 2020 season, where they will compete for the U.S. delegation in 8-way for the world championship title. None of the XP8 team members who have helped as player-coaches in the past (Michelle Karamon, Jeana Billings, Kirk Verner, Brian Krause) were available for the ICL event in November, neither were the Golden Knights (Andrew Starr, Jennifer Davidson).

Paraclete XP's ICL organizer Morgan Womble is now working together with Phoenix XP member Lauren Byrd, after Jessica Haugaard moved to Minneapolis, where she goes to school and hopes to connect with local 4-way competitors and initiate a new Indoor Cloud League team.

Morgan Womble and Lauren Byrd connected with Kyle Hermberg at Paraclete XP in November, who posted his own ICL scores and videos at iFLY Dallas for the same month. Morgan Womble and Kyle Hermberg together, with Cheryl Morgan and Stephanie Starsky in the lineup, tied the A Class highscore that the HF Flying Rebels posted at the Hurricane Factory. Paraclete XP outscored iFLY Dallas by seven points in November (92 - 85).
