Did You Know...

... that the Czech teams needed several alternates at the January competition?

HF Flying Circus in 2016
posted Jan 10th, 2020 - The first indoor competition of the new year took place at the Hurricane Factory in Prague, Czech Republic, and it was a perfect start for one of the Czech teams. HF Flying Circus won the AAA Class competition with a new 25.8 team record average, after two 23+ meets in November and December.

HF Flying Circus is now going into the team's 5th year with the same lineup. Martina Vavackova, Dagmar Bezdeková and Lukas Kaderabek together formed the team in 2014. Jakub Klapka joined the team in the tail slot in 2016. HF Flying Circus started from behind HF Bad Boys and HF Chicks and eventually replaced HF Bad Boys as the Czech national indoor and outdoor 4-way Open Class team.

HF Flying Circus have recently been facing new domestic competition after leaving HF Bad Boys and HF Chicks behind. The HF Cubs have been challenging the Czech national Open Class team since they moved up into the AAA Class competition at the end of 2018. In fact, the former 4-way Junior team even outscored the HF Flying Circus seniors for the first time in November 2019.

The domestic 4-way pressure apparently pushed HF Flying Circus to the next scoring level, even though the HF Cubs were not even close at the first meet this year.

Jan Klapka reported from the Czech Republic that his new national 4-way Women team, the HF Cubs, did not compete with the complete lineup. He said that several teams were competing with alternates and substitutes due to illness.

The HF Cubs did not have 4-way Junior world champion Sabina Cioleková available, who dislocated her shoulder recently. New HF Chicks member Tereza Zívalová was once again helping out. She was an HF Cubs member before she joined the HF Chicks and had also competed with her former team in November and December. Her new team did not compete this week, and she did not have to perform double-duties this time.

HF Cubs' Karolina Henkova was competing with a second team instead. The HF Dragonflies were another victim of illness, and she helped out for the 4-way junior team in the AA Class, who finished with their own new team record average. Her HF Cubs team mate Viktorie Nováková filled an open slot for the HF Flying Rebels at the same time, and the 4-way juniors posted a new team record average, as well.

Senior team 4 V Tunelu, with former HF Chicks member Hana Uriková in the lineup, also finished with a new team record average and lifted the performance level above M Team for the first time since both teams started facing each other in November 2019.

Invisible 4-way junior Jan Klapka
The double-duties of the HF Cubs were still not the end of the situation with sick Czech 4-way juniors this week. M Team member and Czech 4-way Godfather Jan Klapka had to find a way how to match the fall rate of A Class team HF Invisible, who were also missing a team member. He did well, as the Invisible juniors finished with their own new record average.

Jan Klapka is now hoping that his missing 4-way juniors will recover as quickly as possible, so they can train again with the complete lineups. He plans to send a total of four teams to the indoor world cup in April, and two of them are 4-way junior teams.

HF Flying Circus will compete in 4-way Open, and the HF Cubs in 4-way Women. HF Flying Rebels and HF Dragonflies will hopefully make the trip to Charleroi in Belgium and compete in 4-way Junior, where the HF Cubs are the reigning indoor world champions. He does not only need healthy 4-way juniors in April. He is still working on the funding for the large Czech delegation at the world cup, as well...
