Did You Know...

... that the Polish MAD Team could make history at the World Challenge 2020?

Strong Belgian 2020 delegation without HayaBusa: ISR FireFlash in 2019
posted Mar 6th, 2020 - The field of teams for the World Challenge 2020 has almost doubled since the NSL News posted the first power rankings on February 21st, and it has naturally become more competitive, as well.

Arizona Airspeed still don't have a serious challenger at this point in time, and they may bring back the next World Challenge title to Eloy, 11 years after Airspeed Odyssey's last victory in 2009. The 1st place this year would be the completion of the comeback, first with a 3rd place in 2018, followed by a 2nd place in 2019.

There may not be a battle for the 1st place, however, the competition for the spot behind Airspeed is very promising, as ISR FireFlash and Chimera have joined Weembi Unicorns and NFTO in a group of teams who are very closer to each other, according to the scoring history.

This group of teams will also feature the next expected battle between the three best British 4-way teams, who have finished in the same order at their last three indoor and outdoor meets together: NFTO - Chimera - Eros. The World Challenge is also the British indoor championship at the same time and qualifies teams for the FAI indoor meets in the following year.

Rookie Class winner in 2018: MAD Team
The three British top teams have competed at indoor and outdoor events both last year. NFTO and Chimera are in the same situation of balancing their indoor and outdoor training and competition efficiently in preparation for the FAI World Meet 2020 in August. NFTO is the British national team in 4-way Women, Chimera compete in the 4-way Open Class.

The three British top teams will try to push each other to the level where they can challenge ISR FireFlash for the 2nd place. The Belgian team launched their 2020 season with a very impressive 28.1 team record average at the Wind Games and might not even be far behind Arizona Airspeed with a peak performance in Bedford.

Two other Belgian teams, Ayro and Falco, will probably be in group of currently four teams who have only two slots available within the Top 10. British team Pajama Pumas and Windabona Angels from Spain seem to be the opposition for the Belgians.

Both Belgian teams in this group finishing in the Top 10 could then equal the expected number of three British teams. It's once again a strong Belgian delegation, even without NMP PCH HayaBusa.

MAD Team in the A Class of 2019 and the Rookie Class of 2018
A Class winner in 2019: MAD Team
Poland has a very strong presence in the next two categories (AA - A). Flyspot Omega were in the top position of the earlier AA Class power rankings. MAD Team have now signed up for the World Challenge, as well, after winning the World Challenge 2018 in the Rookie Class and last year in the A Class. They could make history in becoming the first team winning three different categories in three consecutive years.

Both Polish teams can be expected in the competition for the top spot on the AA Class leaderboard, with MAD Team as the top contender. The AA Class leaderboard features a colorful international field of teams, as well. Several teams could create an exciting international battle for the third set of AA Class medals, with teams from four different countries involved.

The Polish delegation is also bringing the top contender in the A Class to Bedford, Crazy Donut, even though the Polish team is stepping up from the Rookie to the A Class. There is a very good chance that the Polish delegation win two sets of gold medals at the World Challenge this year. It would be the second time after Finland in 2013 (A - Rookie). Only the UK delegation has ever won three titles at the same World Challenge in 2012 (AA - A - Rookie).
